T.I. Gives 2Pac Lowest Rating During “Rate The Bars” Segment

T.I. didn’t hold back during a recent BET Rate The Bars segment. The always outspoken ATLien was tasked with rating bars from a variety of rappers, including Iggy Azalea, 2Pac and B.o.B.

Despite his status as one of Hip Hop’s greats, the late Tupac Shakur received a rating of 1 from T.I. for his “Something Wicked” lyrics.

    “I give this a 1. I gave it a 1 because it’s ‘rat, cat, dog, fog, run, fun.’ I’m done,” T.I. said.

Iggy Azalea also failed to impress the Us Or Else rapper. The Aussie artist received a 2.5 for her bars on “Switch.”

“It rhymes. And they’re talking about things. I give it a 2.5,” he said.

Naturally, T.I. showed little bias when rating his own bars. He gifted himself with a 3.5 for his “savvy” double entendres on “King of Da South.”

Fellow Atlanta rapper B.o.B walked away with the highest rating from T.I. thanks to a sampling of bars from his Ether track, “E.T.”

For B.o.B’s lines, “I’m like a Michelangelo painting that hangs in the vault/ They gated me off by Hendrix while he plays the guitar/ Never had friends but me and Franklin was dawgs/ Somewhere between insane and famous, guess my brain’s a lil’ off,” T.I. gave him a 4.

      1. Its not his rap skills that rates him so high, its the passions in his rap…tupac was like malcom x when he spoke or rapped on certain tracks……had he not chose to be a fake gansta and schizophrenic, talking about unity one day, my fo fo make sure all your kjds dont grow the next, he would have been such a leader…..but 6 out of 10 songs of his were just average lyrically

      2. GTFO here with that BS. Pac is top five all time. Sorry but there are a lot of MC’s not based in New York that are lyrical. You just ain’t listening. Nobody was a better story teller than Pac, and he advanced lyrically as each album passed, so he got better while most MC’s last lived off the glory of their first album. You ain’t hip hop

          1. STFU, you don’t know jack ish about hip hop. You think “these are the breaks” came out in the 90’s. You ain’t hip hop, flaming punk. Go pop some pills jelly boy

        1. You really trying to say can’t nobody tell a story like Pac?! GTFOH bruh! Lloyd Banks would body your favorite rapper and then some. Pac the only story teller out there. I can’t stop laughing……..I got a story to tell. Southside. My brothers Keeper. Do it for this block. Shall I keep going?

    1. This was from his first album, which as a HUGE ‘Pac fan, I’ll admit was not that good. It had moments, like Brenda Had A Baby and Part Time Mutha. But the rest of the album was ‘Pac trying to find his voice, and it felt he was trapped between gangsta and street knowledge. I think Me Against the World, All Eyez On Me and Makaveli is where ‘Pac truly found his voice. And based off Makaveli, had he had a chance to grow off that, might be seen as one of the best lyricist of all time. But early ‘Pac was BRUTAL, and he built his rep’ back then more on the antics and drama, rather than the actual lyrics.

    2. not surprising TI would go with a sing songy car for best lyrics. TI needs to sit down trying to live off of 2Pac’s glory

    3. I just listen to that song since it’s not a popular 2pac song i know and yes simplistic but it wasn’t from something that we all knew and loved.

    4. His last verse in Me Against the World was arguably his best:

      “With all this extra stressin’
The question I wonder is after death, after my last breath
When will I finally get to rest through this oppression?
They punish the people that’s askin’ questions
And those that possess steal from the ones without possessions
The message I stress: to make it stop, study your lessons
Don’t settle for less, even the genius asks his questions
      Be grateful for blessings
Don’t ever change, keep your essence
The power is in the people and politics we address
Always do your best, don’t let the pressure make you panic
      And when you get stranded
And things don’t go the way you planned it
Dreamin’ of riches, in a position of makin’ a difference
Politicians are hypocrites, they don’t wanna listen
If I’m insane, it’s the fame made a brother change
It wasn’t nothin’ like the game; it’s just me against the world”

    5. As Dr Dre once said ‘you are so far under my radar I don’t know who the fuck you are, to tell you to suck my dick while I’m pissing’

That sums up my knowledge of T.I.

P.s. That 2pac verse is poor

    6. Pac has bars on songs like If I Die Tonight. But he’s more of a songwriter than a punchline artist. I Ain’t Mad at Cha is an example of a song that is brilliantly written, even if it’s relatively simple.

    7. I remember that Pac’s first albums were very basic. Nothing special. MATW is his best album. AEOM has to much filler. Pac was never the mc that Rakim, Biggie, nas, Jay-Z, Black Thought, Kool G Rap, Big L and Big Pun were. Pac is overrated probably i will get a much of hate now because pac stan’s are so sensitive.

    8. I basically like all Pac’s albums before his death and I hate all of the posthumus ones with a passion. He was a good mainstream mc but he wasn’t a lyricisit (cuz that’s Aesop and Tame-1), wasn’t a revolutioner (cuz that’s Kool Keith and Rakim), and wasn’t a poet (cuz that’s Lord Byron lol). I also believe he’s one of the most overrated mc’s of all time with Nas, Jay-Z, Biggie and Eminem.

    9. Yet dudes still critiquing him 20 years since he died with a passion telling us how wack he was, lol.

Dude was dope with making music. That’s all that matters, and he’s the only rapper people will still be talking about 100 more years from now out of all of these people you swear are better. He was a rap soul musician. If you don’t have that soul in your shit, it don’t last the test of time.

    10. Pac was not a out dropping doping bars it was about reaching the people and im sure all have heard the term some times simple is better… he did not need to deliver bars that were playing with words because he was not trying to be dope he was sending a message to ignorant people such as the ones that just say “hes ass” they use thoes simple wprds but it geys across the message that u dislike him so why did he need to play with words and have insane bars when hes flow wasnt about that…he is fsr beyond your everyday rapper… he thought about ppl like u and me and the real struggle not some fake hussler struggle brendas got a baby is evident of that… and yes he wasent the best lyricist but u go ask biggie , drake , Jay z to go rap about somthing as real as brendas got a baby and lets see if it willl be a hit i think not yall are ignoronant and focus on playing with words and using metaphors TUpac wasent that he was a messenger and best artist around

    11. What’s funny to me is the people who act like rap music is this book reporter shit, lol. It’s about does this shit sound good? Did it sound good when it hit the streets? Yet you have fools talking about similes and metaphors and shit like this is an advanced English course at Stanford or some shit, lol. Shit is hilarious. It’s funny to me people always trying to break hip hop down like by technicalities to elevate shit songs and rappers but never get to does this shit sound good, which is kind of the whole point. If I wanted some English couplets, there are plenty of lame ass poetry collections of that shit that actually are technically sound if that’s what you want. Dudes giving me similes about how many cars they have or the crack they cooked on the stove is inherently simple and dumb, yet you have fools arguing the point anyway.

Drake uses a hell of a lot of metaphors. He better than Pac? Ras Kass who I love was always dope with the similes. He better than Pac? GFOH. Fact is does your shit stand the test of time? Did people feel your shit like Marvin Gaye? Will people remember you like Prince or Stevie Wonder or some shit? Do people feel your point of view when you put that shit together. Like I said, people still passionately discussing dude 21 years since he died, and people will still be doing that 50 years from now. He’s the only rap dude that will be so for because people felt him when he spit. Nobody gonna remember T.I. Hell, nobody remembers him now.
