T.I. Announces Rap Retirement With Final Album ‘Kill The King’

T.I. has had a tumultuous last six months. In January, former family friend Sabrina Peterson accused Tip of once holding a gun to her head, which opened the floodgates for a cascade of sexual abuse and drugging allegations to crash through T.I. and Tiny’s world.

Now, the Hustle Gang boss has announced his rap retirement with what he says will be his final album, Kill The King.

In a bold move, T.I. released a video on Tuesday (June 8) called “What It’s Come To” that begins with audio of Peterson demanding an apology from the famous couple.

“Tell the truth about me,” she says in the clip as laughter erupts in the background. “Tell the truth and apologize, and I’m gone. Here’s the other stipulation — do it within seven days. Within seven days, tell the truth, apologize and I’m gone.”

Then the words, “A toxic person will create drama and then portray themself as the victim” pop up on the screen, attributed to Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist Syreeta Butler.

As the “What It’s Come To” video comes to a close, the Kill The King cover art appears with “The Final Album Coming Soon” written underneath the project’s title.

T.I. has been toying with the idea of retiring from rap for years. During a 2017 interview with The Breakfast Club, he indicated it was about that time.

“I’m ready to get the hell outta [the rap game],” he said. “I got this next album, I got three albums in my head I’ve already conceptualized. Once I get them out, I’m done.”

Logic Isn’t Taking Rap Un-Retirement Lightly - He's Started A Duo With Madlib

Tip’s eleventh studio album, The L.I.B.R.A., arrived last October with features from 21 Savage, 42 Dugg, Benny The Butcher, Conway The Machine, Eric Bellinger, Jadakiss, Killer Mike, Lil Baby, Rapsody, Rick Ross, Snoop Dogg, Young Thug and more. The project peaked at No. 18 on the Billboard 200 and No. 9 on the Top R&B/Hip Hop Albums chart.

Of course, T.I. joins the laundry list of rappers who’ve claimed they were retiring, only to return with another album. More recently, Def Jam artist Logic claimed he was putting the mic down for good but then returned with a new duo called MadGic with super producer Madlib earlier this month. The Game also said he was stepping away from music but in a rare interview with HipHopDX, he said he was working on another project as well.

    1. Clown ass midget!! This guy lies about retiring like how Jeezy , Jay and all these other rappers lie about retiring!! Libra was already supposed to be his final final album and walked back.. Short guy no wonder Mayweather humped his wife!!!

    2. meh I would say we don’t need him but ummmm too many Lil babies da babies Lil durks pop smokes xxtenxtion like rappers.

    3. This dude really did himself in ain’t no disputing that. His racist comments just tanked him

    4. If that’s actually the chick saying that at the beginning (and not an actress repeating her words) then this is fishy. He can’t just use her voice on a commercial recording without her permission (and paying her). If he paid her for permission to be on this song after she just tried to ruin his life…. fishy. Fame is a weird place.

    5. I respect him for not falling to his knees and apologizing just because the Twitter lynch mob came after him over unproven allegations. If he really did all that stuff, take it to court and lock him up. It’s nice to see somebody stand up to that stuff for a change instead of just surrendering and crawling away in shame. That said, I haven’t cared about anything this guy has made since “T.I. Vs T.I.P” so whether he stays or goes doesn’t matter to me at all.

    6. I Wanna know if he was clapping Atlanta mayor aleshia Lance’s bottom!! if so ima try to holla hehe

      2. How can you say no one wants to hear him when his last album was a top 20 on billboards top 200 this late in his career, you clearly don’t know how hard that is to do.. stop hating and get some money, if u see how them females be around his car in Atlanta you would clearly see he not forcing nobody…

    7. so i contacted a lawyer about a couple months ago and he just said to me basically i need evidence to prove that these media vultures are doing me wrong. but did i mention the expenditure? he wants to charge me almost $500 for a meeting. i think what is more than likely going to happen is these people in media in the background are going to get away with millions and millions of dollars of stolen intellectual property. it is a sad day when there are a group of people out there with a monopoly on the entire business and people accept this as normal. that is how it seemed to be anyway. they will get away with it all and leave a family grieving.

    8. Ti I’m proud to Say this Is one of the most songs you’ve ever written that touched me to the new song u dropped due too yur life situations an Where u stand yur demeanor is so High hear ye hear ye Crowned King of the South May u find Peace in wat u do an God Bless u an yur Wife and kids
