Stephen Curry Goes Back-To-Back With Historic MVP Sweep

Stephen Curry may have lost to Drake in a game of ping pong, but no one is coming close to competing with him when it comes to basketball.

The Golden State Warrior point guard became the 11th player in the award’s 61-year history to take back-to-back MVP wins on Tuesday (May 10), and is the first ever to nab a unanimous decision from the judges. All 131 members of the panel gave the first-place nod to Curry.

Looking at the 28-year-old All-Star’s stats this season, it’s not hard to guess why.

Curry led his team to a 73-9 season, edging the 1995-96 Chicago Bulls’ 72-10 season for the best record in league history. It was a big deal. He hit more three-pointers than anyone ever, smashing his own 2014-15 record by 166 to set the new high-water mark at 402. He also led the league in steals, averaging 2.1 per game, as well as points per game, with 30.1.

The award comes as Curry and Golden State look to repeat last year’s championship win.

The team is currently up 3-1 against the Portland Trailblazers in the second round of the playoffs. Returning after missing four-and-a-half games from an injured knee, Curry looked shaky from behind the three-point line on May 9, going only 5 for 16, but he made up for it by dominating in overtime with 17 points — another NBA record.

As for the rest of the list, a distant second place went to San Antonio’s Kawhi Leonard, who edged out four-time MVP LeBron James by three points, while Oklahoma City Thunder players Russell Westbrook and Kevin Durant rounded out the fourth and fifth spots. See the full results here.

    1. This is not hiphop! & FUCK the warriors & steph curry he ain’t shit all do is run up the court and shoot 3’s also the spurs will win the championship! Also curry is overrated !!!!!!!!!!!!

      1. LMAO! He’s led the league in scoring, steals and 3 pointers and had one of the highest PER ‘s ever. Yeah real overrated. He beat his own record for 3’s by over 100 3 pointers. He only plays 30 mins a game too! Man you are hater.

      2. LMAO! He’s led the league in scoring, steals and 3 pointers and had one of the highest PER ‘s ever. Yeah real overrated. He beat his own record for 3’s by over 100 3 pointers. He only plays 30 mins a game too! Man you are hater.

    2. Shaq, Jordan and King James deserve the unanimous votes too, but you know those 3 or going to get hated on especially Bron, niggas hate bron and don’t even know why. It surprises me that nobody dislikes steph and majority of people hate bron. Lebron has never
done anything to get in trouble off the court. I wonder if lebron was lightskin would people like him.

      1. On point….Lebron the realist nig in the NBA, he ride wit his day 1 one niggas…no scandle no trouble…

    3. So was HHDX postin articles about Steve Nash after he won back to back mvps? LMAO!!! this site has become as broke as Shaqs jump shot

    4. we about to witness what people seen in the 90s with the bulls execpt GS aint goin win no 3 straight..more like 5 straight then sum…#NOBULL

by 2025 steph will be greater than both kobe and jordan….he already better than lebron cus he now has 2 rings lol

      1. The thing about that is Steph cant stay healthy last year was one of the first years were he didn’t have issues with his ankle and leg. Steph is not built like lebron, jordan, shaq and kobe he physically can’t do it. GS bench will start to dwindle by the end of this season Livingston will leave first chance he gets bc teams will over pay with salary cap going up. Barnes will most likely leave after this season, the Lakers, Knicks, hawks, Mavs will all go after barnes and offer him close to 5 years 90 to 100 million.

    5. Dear Mr. Mitchell, please keep us all updated about the weight fluctuation of your auntie’s cats as well. Sincerely, HHDX readers / posters.

    6. He’s not overrated but curry is not the best overall player in the NBA, It’s still Lebron and then maybe Khwai, Steph is a amazing player that plays on the perfect team. Steph is not a good defender at his own position, draymond, barnes, Thompson, Bogut cover up Steph weakness on defense, Lebron can guard all 5 position and pretty much play all 5 position.
