Roddy Ricch’s ‘The Box’ Hits No. 1 On Billboard 100

Roddy Ricch’s hit record “The Box” has topped the Billboard Hot 100 chart released on Monday (January 13), giving him his first No. 1 song. The single is from his Please Excuse Me For Being Antisocial album which peaked atop the Billboard 200 chart upon its release.

The 30Roc-produced track culminates the chart in its fifth week after debut. The hit amassed 68.2 million U.S. streams, according to Nielsen Music/MRC Data. Only two songs have more streams than Ricch’s, Mariah Carey’s “All I Want For Christmas Is You” and Lil Nas X’s “Old Town Road.”

The Compton native beat out pop star Justin Bieber who congratulated the rapper after “The Box” trumped his single “Yummy.” Bieber started an online campaign to get his record to the top, but in the end Ricch’s smash record prevailed. JAY-Z also included “The Box” in his 2019 end of year playlist.

The 21-year-old rapper posted his chart-topping accomplishment in an Instagram story. Ricch is embarking on The Antisocial Tour on Tuesday (January 14) in Seattle. The tour is already sold out.

    1. Homie must be on the same south East Asian click farms Drake is on. Nice. The song is wack IMO.

    2. Still don’t understand the hype behind Roddy. He sounds like every other rapper that rap-sings in autotune. But I also found it funny how desperate Bieber was for a #1 hit, telling everyone to have his song on repeat while they’re sleeping.

    3. Congratulations on his success but yeah…sounds like everything else out right now commercially. Not sure why this song is working like that, but shit…more power to him.

    4. Lol this “song” is dogshit. I feel bad for the kids these days growing up with this garbage whether they are aware of it or not. I mean every generation has their share of bad pop music like drake or this, but it’s literally every artist now. Very sad moment for music as a whole. No talent. Every song and album is just a formula of what’s popular and what sells. Hence why every rapper and song sounds almost identical.
