Rihanna and Donald Glover have added to their decorated résumés after both receiving nominations at the 2023 Golden Globes.

The list of nominees was announced on Monday (December 11), and RiRi and Glover are in the company of some huge names. The Barbadian singer is nominated for Best Original Song thanks to her latest single “Lift Me Up” from the Black Panther: Wakanda Forever movie soundtrack.

She’s in the running against Taylor Swift’s “Carolina” from the film Where The Crawdads Sing and Lady Gaga’s “Hold My Hand” off the movie soundtrack for Top Gun: Maverick, among others.

Rihanna took to Twitter to celebrate earning her first-ever Golden Globes nomination, writing: “God be showin out!” alongside a praying and heart emoji.

Donald Glover, on the other hand, is nominated for Best Actor in a TV Series – Musical or Comedy thanks to his role as Earnest “Earn” Marks in Atlanta, which he created.

Glover (a.k.a. Childish Gambino) is no stranger to the Golden Globes having previously been nominated three times and won two awards (Best Actor in a TV Series – Musical or Comedy and Best Television Series – Musical or Comedy in 2017, both for Atlanta).

Atlanta had its series finale last month, closing out its six-year run after four seasons. Tyler, The Creator was one of many people who were sad to see the show come to an end when he posted a tweet thanking Glover for the memories.

“Was legit sad knowing it was coming to an end,” he wrote. “love this show, this moment was great. congrats on making some specific and special.”

Looking ahead, Rihanna is getting ready to make her return to the stage at the Super Bowl Halftime Show in February 2023. The event will take place at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona, and will mark RiRi’s first major performance since the 2016 MTV Video Music Awards.

After running into TMZ paparazzi in Los Angeles in October, Rihanna admitted she has mixed emotions about her first-ever Super Bowl performance.

“I’m nervous!” she said while wearing a long-sleeve tee honoring the late DMX. “But I’m excited.”

Rihanna was also asked about any special guests she plans to bring with her on the Super Bowl stage, with one of the photographers mentioning her rapper boyfriend and father of her child A$AP Rocky. But the Anti singer remained tight-lipped, responding only with a coy shrug.
