Rapsody Unveils Star-Studded “EVE” LP

Rapsody is back with her follow-up to the 2017 Grammy Award-nominated album Laila’s Wisdom.

Titled EVE, the 16-track project highlights 15 strong black women who have somehow played a role in the North Carolina MC’s life.

In a recent interview with HipHopDX, the 36-year-old admitted it wasn’t a simple process.

“It was hard to narrow it [list of women] down for the album,” she said. “I recorded probably about 40 songs about 40 different women. I knew I wanted to start off with ‘NINA.’ That was the perfect intro. I knew I wanted to keep ‘AFENI,’ and then it was just plug and play.

“What are the best songs that we had? I know I’m in love with the concepts and the names of these songs, but what are the best songs that we have that compliment the sound that we’re going with?”

She added, “I have songs in the can — like I have a “SPINDERELLA” song. I have “PHYLICIA,” which is out. I have one for Eartha Kitt, I have a Maxine Waters and I have Keisha from Belly. But we decided just to do this one.”

EVE boasts a laundry list of notable artists, including Queen Latifah, J. Cole, GZA, D’angelo, J.I.D and SiR.

Rapsody has unveiled the tracklist and cover art for her forthcoming album EVE. Rather than simply listing the song titles, the North Carolina-bred MC has given each track its own Instagram post as well as singular post for all the features.

“EVE Album cover,” she wrote in the caption. ” AUG 23rd. Pre-order available now. LINK IN BIO. | powered by @jamlarecords @rocnation @defjam and the people! designed by @brickshaus | photography by @_swankshotit | hair by @braid_artistry.”

Queen Latifah, J.I.D, Leikeli47, GZA, D’Angelo and J. Cole are among the special guests who help pay tribute to some of Rapsody’s heroes.

Powerful women such as Oprah, Nina Simone and Afeni Shakur are a few of those honored on the project. In a recent interview with Beats 1, the Grammy Award-winning artist explained the concept behind the 16-track effort.

“I’m influenced by so many black women,” she said. A lot of people already know I’m heavily influenced by Lauryn Hill, MC Lyte, and Queen Latifah,” she said. “It’s just not all or nothing for me. I’m an extension of them, so every song is going to be a different woman and different energy of what makes Rapsody who she is.”

EVE is expected to arrive on August 23.

    1. This look mega intresting!!! Remember when young thug tried this on jeffery or whatever album with all song titles being famous names but none of the songs were about the names lolol…this rapsody joint i can tell gon be done right and everytitle gonna be about the person its named after. She def. One of the best lyricist in the game i cant wait

    2. Rapsody has been the best female rapper easily for the last past 5 years, but only real hip hop heads know that, casual fans don’t even know she exist and that is a major problem. She’s under 9th wonders label who’s under Roc Nation and that seems to be another issues. You use to get the benefits of being under a name brand like Roc Nation, whether it’s the label or management. They have never really put any push/money/effort behind her and that’s a shame. Her label should have went almost all in on her, when someone is as talented as her you have to take the gamble, if you lose money then you just lose it, and she is still in the same position she is in now which is not bad, but if the gamble paid off then she would have been recognize universally as the Best female rapper in the world and one of the Best overall rappers. Guess that’s a chance they didn’t want to take.

      1. Facts!!! I really hope that this album gets her more recognition. She is one of the best Emcees in the game regardless of gender.

      1. It’s a feminist album….Rhapsody is talented but she’s a feminist…..I’ll enjoy the album but I ain’t falling for her propaganda…..

      1. Dumb Dumb, Rapsody was born in Snow Hill, N.C. (Greene County) which is Rural. She attended North Carolina State University. She has no kids out of wedlock. The women is very intelligent and she knows her history. She is very conscience. You need to learn about someone before stereotyping them idiot! If you ever listen to her music and watched her videos, you would know she doesn’t that ratchet stuff or take off her clothes. I am from Greensboro N.C., so I know. What a prick!!!!

    3. Hate her loose ass spoken word flow. She has lyrics sometimes and could be good but she’s trying to appeal to people with zero attention span with the one word titles and lazy flow.

    4. Obviously Rapsody is the best female MC in the game today which means she is one of the best artists in the game. Her new album is dope! Queen Latifah might come back for her crown based on those insane bars!

    5. Raposdy is a squee head! I listened to album on 8/23, but had to take the biggest dump in the world. I ran out of my dorm, but already popped my panties. My room mate laughed at me then locked me out of the dorm room. She then started to play, “My Neck, My Back” and sung along, while laughing at me. I started to smell, so I yelled at her to open door. She finally opened the door, then slapped me in my face so hard, her nails flew off her fingers. She told me to grow up, then slapped me in my face again. I fell on the floor from the impact of the slap, hit the ground and couldn’t get up. I cried, then she ran back into the room, pulled out my dildo, then slapped me in the face again. A crowd gathered, then she picked up the dildo, so she could use it, then slammed the door. I started to cry.

Please help me. I don’t want to smell like pooh, but I keep getting slapped. Why does she keep slapping me? I need help from mi internet fans. You are my true family

    6. Eve is a classic album! A well put together project from Rapsody and her team at Roc Nation. I listen to the whole album at least once a day. Hopefully Eve will go #1 in the country because today’s culture need to hear Rapsody’s message
