Quavo‘s annual ‘Huncho Day’ is returning to his hometown of Atlanta for its seventh year, and this time it will highlight gun violence prevention efforts that focus on community safety.

Quavo lost his nephew and fellow Migos member Takeoff to gun violence in 2022, so the initiative, which is dubbed the ‘Quavo Cares Social Impact Hub,’ is near and dear to him.

Going down April 28, the annual event will also include Team Huncho Basketball and Team Huncho Elite 7v7 football games for the first time, in addition to its usual football and basketball youth clinics and combines supported by the Atlanta Hawks and the Atlanta Falcons.

Huncho Day’s proceeds will be benefiting “Rocket Camp” (otherwise known as the Credible Messenger Summer Mentorship Program powered by The Rocket Foundation), a 10-week summer violence intervention program led by the Offender Alumni Association, geared toward engaging high risk, high need youth ages 13-17, in opportunities for economic, social and civic empowerment.

Quavo has continued to work to honor Takeoff since his passing and last month, launched the Sparks Grants Initiative, which will award ten organizations grants of $10,000 each for their programs focusing on gun violence and its regulation.

“I am honored to launch this grant program to honor Take and the countless families that have been affected by gun violence,” the 32-year-old said in a statement. “The Rocket Foundation will be giving out $100,000 in Spark grants to local organizations dedicated to reducing community violence in Atlanta.”
