Quavo has received criticism from Lil Peep’s fans and friends for his Quavo Huncho cut “Big Bro,” which includes lyrics that mirror the circumstances of Peep’s death. The Migos member has addressed the situation and denied the lines were about Peep, who died from a Fentanyl and Xanax overdose in 2017.
“Lil Peep Is A Legend A Real Rockstar,” he wrote on Twitter. “N E V E R will speak on the deceased I believe in god I pray to GOD every day. I Dnt question GOD plans I lost my barber For 10 yrs to FENTANYL R.I.P. Show R.I.P XXX RIP TO ANYBODY WHO LOST THERE LIFE TO DRUG ABUSE!”
The lines in question come from the first verse of “Big Bro.” Quavo raps, “Think you popping Xanax bars, but it’s Fentanyl/(No-no bars, it’s Fentanyl)/Think you’re living life like rockstars but you’re dead now.”
Smokeasac, Bexey and Fat Nick were among Peep’s friends and collaborators who took issue with the lyrics. Most of their critical tweets about Quavo have been deleted following his explanation. All three shared positive messages in response to the Migos member.
“ITS ALL LOVE, I JUMPED TO CONCLUSIONS CAUSE I’M HURT,” Bexey wrote. “THANK YOU FOR BEING REAL & EXPLAINING THIS SHIT.. RESPECT.”
