Public Enemy To Be Inducted Into The Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame

After being nominated earlier this year, Public Enemy is officially set to be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

According to Rolling Stone, the veteran Hip Hop group joins Heart, Randy Newman, Rush, Albert King and Donna Summer in the class of 2013. Additionally, Lou Adler and Quincy Jones will both receive the Ahmet Ertegun Award for non-performers.

With their induction, Public Enemy becomes the fourth Hip Hop act to be included in the Hall of Fame. Previously, Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five and Run-DMC were honored with inductions.

The induction ceremony is slated to be held on April 18, 2013 at the Nokia Theater and will broadcast on HBO on May 18th.

      1. Co-sign. Public Enemy over NWA all day. They deserve it (their messages were more political/community-focused than NWA). Big congrats to them. Statement about music today (sans Rick Ross and all that other B.S.)

    1. “they didn’t start it they just got it to blow”

Schooly D, Boogie Down Productions and Ice T sort of started it, but I could see why most assumed NWA did. They were embraced by the mainstream and made gangsta music seem cool.
