Public Enemy, N.W.A. Nominated For Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame

Public Enemy and N.W.A. have been included in this year’s nominees for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

The two groups join a gang of potential inductees including Kraftwerk, The Paul Butterfield Blues Band, Chic, Deep Purple, Heart, Joan Jett and the Blackhearts, Albert King, the Marvelettes, the Meters, Randy Newman, Procol Harum, Rush and Donna Summer.

To qualify for nomination, artists had to have released their first single at least 25 years ago. N.W.A. dropped its first single “Panic Zone” in 1987, while Public Enemy unleashed “Public Enemy #1” that same year.

The 28th Annual Rock and Roll Hall of Fame ceremony will take place at Los Angeles, California’s Nokia Theatre on April 18, 2013, and will be followed by a broadcast on HBO.

    1. either P.E., or N.W.A. should get in the hall of fame.

both are classic, legendary hip-hop groups…2 of the 4 best hip-hop groups of all-time, along with WUTANG CLAN, and ULTRAMAGNETIC MCS.

    2. in the history of this hall of fame people life ringo starr, steve miller band, hall & oates, linda ronstadt, the spinners and boz skaggs and others do not get hall of fame appreciation.

    3. NWA off influence and legacy alone should get in. I mean, what would west coast rap be?

Public Enemy, do I even need to go into it? there is no conscious rap category without them. The sheer power behind their lyrics, chuck’s voice, the influence that they had on what rap could be. people saw it as just noise until PE came about.
