Nav has revealed to HipHopDX that the moment he realized he had finally made it as a rapper was after he took some mushrooms.
Speaking to the Canadian rapper at the release party for his latest album Demons Protected By Angels, DX asked him to describe the moment when he realized he was successful.
After a lengthy pause, the Good Intentions lyricist said mushrooms had opened his eyes to his newfound success.
“When I took mushrooms,” Nav said, “I looked at myself from a third person perspective and I was like, ‘Yo I fuck with you dude. Dude really do this shit. Dude really take care of his mom, his family, everybody else. Boys is straight.’ What? I’m real!”
It’s good to hear that Nav is such a fan of himself now because in a 2019 interview with Pitchfork, the rapper admitted he sought validation elsewhere. He recalled being really disappointed TMZ wasn’t interested in photographing him at the time, despite pulling out all the stops.
“Fame is something I want, it’s a good problem to have,” Nav said. “I’m still not there, because when I walk out of fucking Delilah in L.A. and TMZ will be standing out there with cameras and not even take a picture of me, I get sick.
He continued: “I get in my fucking Lambo truck right in front of them. All my jewelry on and they don’t even take one picture.”
Nav’s Demons Protected By Angels dropped on Friday (September 9) and features appearances from Travis Scott, Lil Baby, Future, Lil Uzi Vert, Future, Lil Durk, Gunna and more.
Even with all the heavy-hitting features on the project, Nav told Full Send Podcast he could have had one more in the form of Drake but that he didn’t think it would be a good fit for the project.
“Drake’s an amazing person and we hang out all the time in Toronto,” he said. “We did a song. I feel we could’ve done a better song and the timeframe was just not good, it didn’t work out.”
He continued: “He’s such a big artist that I didn’t want to put the song on the album and have it take away from anything else on the album. You know, take away life from all the other moments.”
That’s fvckin stupid
LAME ALERT
“Fame is something I want”… what a prick
Can you please stop giving clout to clowns
I question anybody who wants “fame” these days. It’s one thing if you wanted it back in the 90’s or even early to mid 2000’s….but who would want to deal with this shit today? Social media, constantly under a microscope, people talking about you negatively 24/7. What a clown. I’d rather him just say he just wants money. That’s respectable
this dip wont give up. nobody listens or even supports this fatboy
right after diddy tongue fucked the fart box I bet he wanted that famous tongue
I REALIZED I MADE IT AFTER TAKING MUSHROOMS TOO AND I’M BROKE AF!
