Method Man Finds It Suspect New Rappers Have So Much Wealth: ‘Where They Gettin’ This Money!?’

As a longtime member of the legendary Wu-Tang Clan, Method Man has reveled in the kind of success most artists only dream of — millions of albums sold, fruitful acting roles, countless worldwide tours and the subsequent wealth that comes with it.

But these days, the younger generation of rappers seem to have a bottomless pit of cash that affords them private jets, elaborate diamond chains, giant homes, lavish vacations and the most expensive cars money can buy.

On Wednesday (March 23), a clip of an interview Method Man did with battle rapper Math Hoffa started making the rounds in which the Staten Island-bred legend questions how the new rappers are pulling in so much bread.

“We’re in the era now where these kids, they got more money than, son …. I couldn’t imagine,” he says around the 3:45-minute mark. “I still ain’t takin’ private jets and I think I earned that! Where they gettin’ this money? I wanna know. Like they got a deal or some shit?

“No fucking way that they flyin’ private — like that money long as fuck because we talking at least a minimum of 30 grand. That’s round trip. Where are they getting this money from? Can somebody tell me? I wanna know where they’re getting this money from. I need that hustle.”

When Hoffa says they are probably just renting the private jets, Meth replies, “I didn’t say they buyin’ em. They payin’ to fly the private jet but I’m saying they doing it all the time. N-gga, I used to complain having to save half my fuckin’ — when I worked at the Statue — half my check for car fare. $1.75. We’re talkin’ at least 30 to 50 grand a trip. Where are they gettin’ this fucking money from and still pay a mortgage? Migos probably get a 100 grand a piece or something like that.”

Hoffa then points out there are several different revenues for making money these days, including streams, shows and features.

But Meth still can’t wrap his head around it and continues, “Where is this shit coming from? You can’t see it. Nobody really listen to your music like that and shit. Where’d you get this fuckin’ money? I just want to know. It boggles my muthafuckin’ mind. Every penny that I got, I know where it came from. I know exactly what the process was to go through to get that and shit like that and I still don’t live like no muthafuckin’ Rockefeller not saying I can’t, but I still don’t. Where do you get these resources my n-gga?”

As Method Man insinuated, he’s comfortable but isn’t dropping $200,000 on a Maybach to give as a wedding gift like Travis Scott or spending millions on a forehead piercing à la Lil Uzi Vert.

Instead, he’s gearing up for a Verzuz battle with his longtime partner-in-rhyme Redman on April 20, the international weed smokers holiday. Until then, check out his comments above and the Verzuz flyer below.

    1. That’s cos it’s all cap.

They’re advances or loans and flashing that shit. Houses and cars are rented not owned, it’s all a giant scam to try to sell an image that isn’t real, for clout and to generate interest. 10 years from now let’s see where they’re at. My guess is outside of the top tier ones like Future or TScott, most won’t have shit to their name.

      1. Yeah, all props and styling. Same way fashion models dont own the clothes they wear in shoots. Insta influencers are the same, going to private air strips and paying to pose in front of planes that don’t go anywhere. People know this shit but they want to believe it so it works. Its entertainment, like a movie or WWE. Of course the lucky few are really living it but that’s it.

    2. It’s cuz these new artist be giving up they booty holes too. These new guys be sucking off executives and blowing producers for money for decades..This ain’t new. Just that men are doing it as much if not more than the women nowadays.

      1. I happen to be an industry insider and i can 100% confirm this to be the case. These young black boys are getting diddled by the small hats. That’s why they are doing so much drugs and overdosing all the time because they try to escape themselves. They can’t stand to look in the mirror sober because they know what were done to them. And now the same small hats can blackmail them into more stuff.

      2. exactly what it is them new boy emos gettin bucked up the ass wit a skew hook dick gladly #illuminati

      1. Concert money? During a pandemic? You must be smoking crack… wait unless you’re talking about Florida. Then that statement makes sense.

        1. Most Trap Swag rapper are not worth of doing a 15 to 25 city tour maybe 5 small clubs with 200 to 350 people max

    3. i think it is the other way round. if it wasn’t for piracy, if the government actually did something about it as in stamping it out, you would be all billionaires.

      1. Hell no without the internet only 10 Trap Swag rappers would get radio play the rest would the 500 to 750 least viewed artist on Soundclick.com F A C T

    4. Rental cars, air BNB’s, fake gold, and tons of hollywood grade prop money. I mean cmon, the way these kids worship cashapp, walking around with bands of bank fresh hundreds is super suspect. They cant all be selling drugs. Theres not enough drug users in every city to push all that product. And the real D-Boys on the block aint sharing their turf with rappers. If you read up on spotify profits, you gotta get like 1,000 streams just to make a one dollar. And while club appearances can be profitable because the club makes its profit on $200 bottles and $500 VIP tables, the pandemic is killing a lot of those businesses. Yet somehow all these kids are rich buying cars as gifts for other men and buying expensive dumb shit like diamond forehead piercings and a iced out water squirting cgain. I think social media is their secret. Social media allows you to only show what you want your fans to see. All the real shit gets edited out and props and rentals can never be verified for authenticity. I totally agree with Meth. This shit is suspect. How are these kids getting all this money ? Are the record/streaming companies actually paying them millions after historically cheating rappers with shit contracts ? Youtube is free. How much money can ads pay the rappers for clicks ? This shit is all mad suspect.

      1. “Theres not enough drug users in every city to push all that product.”. You gotta get out more.

    5. They slinging product../ rentin Mansions.. Streaming, hosting, toasting… selling out.
      THATS where. From the MUMBLE.BANK.

    6. You might see a rapper with iced out chains but what they won’t tell you is that he’s purchasing them through installments

    7. Some of these cats are learning the business side first and learning to rap second, if at all. Back in the day it was the other way around and that’s how a lot of our OG’s wound up broke. There’s obviously a lot of fronting going on out here but some of these cats are really making moves. A lot of game has been dropped the past twenty years about how to get your worth and some of these youngins paid attention.

    8. I think most somewhat rappers can make at least 10-15k a show, and let’s say they have 2 shows a week on average during a year, that’s ~1.5m a year just off shows, and that’s for rappers that make 15k.. imagine the ones that are actually flying private, they dont see under 50k a show that’s 5m a year just on shows. Then you have all the auxiliary revenue streams like youtube, streams, merch… but mostly I think it’s down to shows, that’s why so many rappers have been hurting so much this year there aint no shows. Why you think drake postponed CLB, that album been done. Because in order to properly monetize the album, he needs shows and concerts. The same goes for all other big rappers not dropping in 2020-21. In method mans prime rappers werent getting these numbers for shows.
