Master P Calls Out Phony Prince Fans

Following Prince’s death, Master P addresses phony fans.

Master P isn’t here for fake Prince fans. Following the untimely death of the music legend, TMZ caught up with the No Limit Records founder to get his thoughts on Prince’s passing.

According to Master P, who recently released a Prince tribute record with the No Limit Boys, it took Prince’s death for some people to recognize “how great” the musician was.

“Prince the man,” Master P said. “Definitely sad to see him go so soon. Like I said on the record, a lot of people–I’mma just keep it 100. A lot of people called Prince, ‘weirdo’ and all that other stuff. Even though he’s one of the greatest entertainers in the world. But it took him to die for everybody to talk about how great he is.”

Master P later clarified that his comments weren’t geared towards all fans, just those who aren’t genuine. He also used the late Michael Jackson as an example of an artist who was ridiculed while living and praised following his death.

“I think there’s a lot of genuine stuff, but I also think people–once somebody gone…It’s like Michael Jackson,” he said. “You talk about how great he was. Prince probably up there playing music with Michael Jackson right now. But a lot of people don’t keep it real and say the truth. A lot of them will say stuff like–They’ll say all the bad stuff about you. And make up all kinds of rumors when you alive…He was different. Being different, that’s what most geniuses are.”

    1. What the fu-ck do people mean when they say “up there” after people die? Up there where? In the sky? In the atmosphere? And why would dead people be playing music up in the sky? I don’t get it. He was cremated so how can he be playing music?

    2. Master P is right. Currently, Its Drake taking the role of weirdo. if he dies, he run tings. fake Prince fans.

    3. Was that picture taken in early 2000s? Who the fuck would dress like that in 2010s smh #MasterPee

    4. I agree. I bought prince last 2 albums that he released on the same day. Both are fantastic. Now that he’s dead everybody is a fan and Black Radio plays his songs…. But before he died they rarely played his songs. Same with MIchael Jackson. Whatever

      1. It’s really not that deep. I mean, as long as you weren’t talking shit about the man, but then changed your tune after he died, then you’re good. It’s ok to discover or take more of an interest in Prince post-mortem. Nothing wrong with that.

    5. I’m getting fed up with Prince. I have never listened to a song by him and just because he’s black, he’s dead and some rappers sampled his music his appearance is irrelevant in a hiphop site in 100%. Don’t be a hypocrate, you never gave a fuck about him. Prince is funk-pop for 40-something ladies, and I come here for hiphop.

      1. Britney Spears has songs with the Ying Yang Twins, Pharrell, Diddy, will.i.am, and Lil Wayne. Mike Patton has songs with Kool Keith, Rahzel, Boo-Yaa Tribe, plus a whole album with Doseone, plus another full album with the X-Ecutioners. Despite all that I can’t see a single news about their work on this site. Or do they have to be black to realize they are more hiphop than the average 2Pac dickrider? Or do they… have to die?

      2. You’re obviously one of those people who doesn’t know his music. Prince has over a thousand released songs, so some stuff gets diluted. But he has more hip hop songs than some of your favorite artists, including collaborations with Eve, Q-Tip, Chuck D., Doug E. Fresh, Kendrick Lamar, and more. “Bury me face down, and let the mfs kiss a ass, okay?”

    6. Purple World

With guitar and hair full of curls.
Prince made this a purple world.
People are crying sounds sadful to the ears.
      And it’s raining purple tears.

At the drop of a hat he was taken away.
There will be less happiness in the world today.
Up to heaven his soul did fly.
Where he is still singing and dancing above a purple sky.
