Lupe Fiasco Recreates Eminem’s ‘Stan’ To Shame Critical Fan

Lupe Fiasco recently called out a fan named Pat Rooney who sent him a direct message on Instagram criticizing the way he interacts (or doesn’t interact) with his fanbase.

The Chicago-bred MC shared the message to his account on Monday (May 26) which read, “Damn man. We the fans make u rich and u don’t even have the decency to acknowledge us. That’s so wrong man. Ur doing it wrong.”

Lupe wrote in the caption, “Acknowledgment.”

But that was only the beginning. Hours later, Lupe returned with an entire song dedicated to Rooney called “Pat On The Back.” The track flips Eminem’s massive 2000 hit “Stan,” which is about an obsessed fan who ultimately dies in a drunk driving accident.

“I mean Pat, I think you gotta understand,” he raps. “I’m just a regular person/I’m just a man/I know you like a fan and felt/you did a lot for me/But I had something to do with writing raps/right, possibly?/I mean I did a lot to get to where I am/A lot of sacrifice to have someone like you as a fan/And this ain’t easy, the record labels are greazy/Even with all of that/I don’t want to downplay your role/Believe me.

“The last thing you wanna hear is some fan saying that you made me/Or that you pay my bill. You pay like $10 to keep it real/If you bought every album that would probably be like 50 or 60/If you did a show, that’s another 35/That’s less than $100, that’s not enough to keep us alive/And I don’t wanna downplay your input or your financial transactions to get us where we are/But there’s more to our job than just pretending to be a star.”

    1. This has to be one of the greatest response to a fan that misses you dearly. Pat was better off just saying he miss Lupe.

    2. As Joe Budden said “you bought the music, not the n&gg@ that made it” fans get it twisted like they have a one way relationship with an artist. Yea you purchased his music but he also provided you with something, music that you are able relate to or vibe with. It’s like when Dave Chappelle said “you are the worst mutha—— I’ve ever had to entertain”.

    3. The way he flows on this it sounds like he is freestyling off the top of the dome. This so impressive I cant believe it.

    4. Damn..I bought Lupe like two years ago, he was sitting in the bargain bin at the local wall mart. At first I thought it would be cool to have a pseudo intellectual rapper around, but the novelty factor get’s old real quick. He’s now in the basement. Must have found an old laptop and figured out the wifi code. Might as well just sell him to Pat.

    5. See, this is the approach I’d like to see artists take with losers on twitter. Instead of placating them with apologies an shit, just clown on em.
