While concerts like Summer Jam and tours like Rock the Bells have made live Hip Hop shows stadium-status, there was once a time when Hip Hop performaces existed almost exclusively in clubs. Perhaps one of the most celebrated and notorious Hip Hop clubs of the past two decades was the Tunnel, a New York venue that helped established some of Hip Hop’s biggest stars during the ’90s. Now, in a recent article from Complex, artists and industry figures like Funkmaster Flex, DMX, Michael Rapaport and more detail a history of the infamous nightlife spot.

    1. AHHH, The good old days at the tunnel, I remember me and my click would grind all day just to get some gwap to buy some gear and goto the tunnel, so many good memories…

Like when ODB showed up sauced money and screamed on the tunnel security saying he will blow the whole Fucking place up, because he was being well, ODB. That same night ODB was on the second floor lounge getting noggin out in the open…

The tunnel had CO-ED bath rooms and a BAR! So you could take your jump-off to the rest room and get-it-in, then grab a drink!

Or my most interesting memory, they would allow you to bring in a certain amount of trees, but confiscate whatever you had to roll it in so that you would have buy a dutch from the ‘dutch boy’ for like $2.00, that really made me scratch my head. Like WTF??

The Best thing about the tunnel was that the women always outnumbered the men, because like Prodigy said, “first 500 bitches free”, so the last thing you worried about was being around too many hard ankles… Glad I was able to experience that time in History…

    2. I mean Ja Rule was one of the hottest in the game one point of time… but when he dropped the last temptation, that was it.. it was a wrap..JA didn’t use the same formula they used on pain is love, which was a well put together album
