Lonzo Ball Makes Swap From JAY-Z’s Roc Nation To Rich Paul’s Klutch Sports

Lonzo Ball’s tenure at Roc Nation Sports didn’t last very long. Just a few months after signing with JAY-Z’s agency, the New Orleans Pelicans point guard (and part-time rapper) decided to take his talents to Klutch Sports.

“I wanted to lead my career,” Ball told ESPN. “Picking my own representation — just solely as my decision — was step one in that process. For me, it was an easy call, and it was the right time to make that call.”

Ball and his brothers LaMelo and LiAngelo signed with Roc Nation in June. They were previously represented by Creative Artists Agency.

Klutch Sports is the agency of LeBron James’ longtime friend and agent Rich Paul. Ball was previously a teammate of James on the Los Angeles Lakers.

Ball’s departure from Roc Nation comes over a year after he had a fallout with his father LaVar. Although the two have mended their relationship, the former UCLA basketball star has become increasingly independent and distanced himself from his dad’s over-the-top persona.

“My dad put me in a position where I am comfortable making my own decisions now,” Ball said. “I think coming into the league, he was very controlling of everything that was going on. But that was an 18-, 19-year-old kid. But now I am 22 years old with my own family. Seeing how he watched over me and stuff — it was time for him to finally let go of everything and watch me be my own man.”

Ball and the Pelicans didn’t make the NBA Playoffs in 2020. He finished the season as one of the Top 15 leaders in assists.

    1. This guy is full of himself. He will be either cheerleading from the bench or playing oversea in about 2 years. Dude think he’s a superstar. Brandon Ingram is the one who should sign to Klutch Sports or Roc Nation.

      1. I assume it’s mainly from all the main sports shows banning his ass. Good thing too, there’s already enough talking pricks in sports media.

    2. After speaking the truth about broke ass Nas saying no one listens to him, he was under King HOV’s ROC Nation Sports. Fitting. I think he should stay to be honest. When you’re under King HOV’s wing, you’ll never be broke. Just only a select few want to bite the hand that feeds and ends up with burned bridges later on. (cough, Jaz-O, cough, Beans) It’s the ROC in here!

    3. Lol this guy is a bum. Why would Roc nation just let you go after you signed with them? And by today’s standards, 22 is still a kid. You haven’t really experienced the hardships of life
