Logic Names His Top 5 Current Emcees

Sitting down at HipHopDX headquarters following the release of his recent debut album Under Pressure, Logic named his Top 5 emcees in the industry.

“Dylan,” he said referencing a Dave Chappelle skit with a laugh before starting the list with himself. “Logic, straight up. Fuck that. Of course.

Drake, Kendrick, Cole, Kanye,” he added in a clip that premiered as a part of today’s DX Daily. “Just off the top. Those are the first that come to my mind. I’m missing some. Sorry whoever I left out. I love a lot of people.”

Last week Logic’s Under Pressure 72,501 units and landed at #4 on the Billboard 200 in the process.

      1. lol I used to feel that way too until I found out he’s half black and was raised by a pink skinned racist devil.

      2. @Anonymous:

Haha, didn’t know that, just looked it up and found out that Vin Diesel also had a black father. Fuckin weird, I don’t think Logic could get away with saying nigga.

      3. @DUH

Nah, read the comment I never said that I thought he was white. I thought he was half hispanic or something.

    1. my roomate’s mother makes $72 /hr on the internet . She has been without a job for 10 months but last month her income was $19131 just working on the internet for a few hours. check it out….

    2. Logic is dope but that’s a wack top 4 (yea, it’s not 5 DX). It’s so weird how some of the best rappers listen to some of the wackest. Drake should never be considered a rapper and Kanye has sucked for the last 5 years. J Cole and Kendrick are the only 2 that make sense and even they arent the best

      1. Of course its wack but not surprising…you can hear elements of kendrick, cole, and yes even drake all over under pressure

    3. wack ass list! he picked all the mainstream buttheads that geat played all day long on the radio. BORING!!!!!

    4. It kills me when people fail to mention Big Krit name at all. Everybody from every coast is pretty riding the mainstream southern sound while he brings back the actual classic dirty south sound with the southern drawls.

    5. You can hear the influence of all of those artist on Under Pressure, which was a good album but…I’m waiting for Logic to make something that is original to him instead of sounding like someone else.

      1. Lol I knew I wasn’t the only one, this kid’s whole album sound like “Nothing Was The Same good kid Born Sinner in a m.A.A.d city”

    6. Drake, Cole, Kanye – That’s a very shitty list. Cole is lyrically somewhat okay, but flow-delivery -wise not so okay. Logic’s album is good, that’s all what matters!

    7. aaa u miserable greedy jelaous little pricks of course there are influences of ther mces on his goddamn album, on mixtapes, everywhere, thats how hiphop works, and every mc at first got many influences from other dudes cause u have to start somewhere, u have to know the frame to paint a picture, but at least he doing what he loves and what makes him fullfilled, and in a face-to-face argument with him any of u experts would choke, so sthu and as in Jeezys and JAY-z Seen it all ENJOY THE SHOW

      1. This. Also, if we’re talking about MCs currently active in the game, I’d say Black Thought and Pharoahe Monche are right in the mix.

      1. in terms of a complete artists and not just lyrics i think Joey is one of the best. For such a young kid he has a style thats missing. He also doesn’t conduct his business in industry fashion. doesn’t matter what genre it is, working within a label limits you and i definitely respect his decision to stay true to what he wants to do. Half of the artists i have seen listed just put out over generalized bullshit that basically anyone could relate to. Atleast anyone missing a sliver of intelligence.

    8. Top 5 without Eminem ain’t objective!Eminem is definitely NO 1.The rest can now follow-If ya’ll disagree, listen to Rap god and if ya’ll still got the zeal get back at me.

      1. Em is garbage. Nobody feels that pop a pill and kill yourself routine he’s been doing for over 10 years. Battle rapping nsync and brittney spears. He’s trash…

      2. dude hop off of eminem’s nuts, smh can’t even have a rap music conversation without you closet gays whipping his phallus out every single time

    9. No particular order
      – Joey Badass & Beastcoast
      – Kendrick Lamar
      – Drake
      – Dizzy Wright
      – Earl Sweatshirt
      – Mac Miller
      – Nas
      – Kanye West

    10. drake is the king for obvious reasons. Its clear as day logic is biting drakes style. J cole is irrelevent and kendrick is trash compared to drake.

    11. Ghostface
      Rock from Heltah Skeltah
      Em
      Beans
      Hov

No particular order; just off top; people who are still alive who put words and pictures together better than the average human being. There are many dope artists out there who are consistent enough to make the top 5 list though. Top 5 is actually unfair in 2014. Should be more like a top 15 at minimum.

    12. Top Current 5 RIGHT NOW:

      Chris Rivers
      Kendrick Lamar
      Tyler, The Creator
      Big KRIT
      Eminem

      My Top 10
      1. Luda 2. Pun 3. Big L 4. Em 5. KRS 6. Pac 7. BIG 8. Kanye 9. DMX 10. ODB
