Logic, Khalid, Rapsody, Tyler The Creator & More Celebrate 2018 Grammy Nominations

The nominations for the 2018 Grammy Awards were announced early Tuesday (November 28) with JAY-Z leading the pack with eight nominations for his work on 4:44. While a nomination for someone as esteemed as Hov is to be expected, a nomination for an 18-year-old R&B singer from El Paso, Texas is somewhat less likely. But Khalid and his debut album American Teen were nominated for five Grammys, including one for Best New Artist.

Khalid took to Twitter to express his surprise.

“Woke up to find out that I’m nominated for 5 Grammys,” he wrote. “I’m in shock. I’m so thankful man this is unbelievable.”

Logic, whose suicide prevention anthem “1-800-273-8255” topped Billboard’s Hot 100, also earned a couple of nominations, including Song Of The Year and Best Music Video. Apparently all he needs now is a new suit.

“Today I was woken up by my wife calling to tell me I was nominated for Song Of The Year at the Grammys and Best Music Video,” he wrote on Twitter. “I can’t even believe this tweet! Holy shit. I HAVE TO GO BUY A SUIT NOW!#RattPack.”

Several Hip Hop artists and fans alike hit social media to show their gratitude and admiration for the nods, including Rapsody, Tyler The Creator and Chance The Rapper.

Rapsody earned a nomination in the Best Rap Album category for her 9th Wonder-produced project, Laila’s Wisdom.

“Man….man…..THANK YOU so much to the @recordingAc……to my team, @JamlaRecords I love y’all!” she wrote on Twitter. “What a journey we’re on.”

Other Hip Hop and R&B artists nominated for the award include Kendrick Lamar, Migos, SZA, The Weeknd, Lil Uzi Vert, Big Sean, Bruno Mars, Kehlani, Childish Gambino, 6LACK and Cardi B.

The 60th Grammy Awards air live from New York City’s Madison Square Garden on January 28.

    1. Y’all are seriously ignorant to instantly hate on Logic b/c of his skin color. He speaks on important mental health issues on this song and ended up relating to a lot of people, which further sheds light on the problem to show just how many people who are depressed and in a bad state of mind. Just because you might not relate to his sucide hotline song, doesn’t mean the track hasn’t had significant a positive outcome for a lot of people. (of course this doesn’t make him invicible from criticism just because of the subject matter. But resorting to perosnal attacks and hate is downright childish and ignorant), of course you can disslike the track, but at least you gotta appreciate the message behind the song. And personally the pure aura of positivity this man emits & spreads wherever he walk.

All you haters who dismiss him b/c he looks white or beacause he got a top charting single about suicde with mediocre/ lacking lyrics need to actually look into his discography and check out some of his other work before you start calling him trash. Of course most radio music is dummed down/ corny because that appeals to a broader audience… that’s just how the radio works.

Logic’s got one of the best albums of 2014, and that’s a fact. His single Under Pressure is a classic. If you claim you are into real hip hop and if you don’t fuck with that track, you truly are a hater.

The dude literally only wants the best for everyone, even his haters and you people are still hating. Real ignorant. Peace, Love & Positivty!.

Props to logic for unapologetically being himself and not caring for others opions of him or his music. Sure, this attitude resulted in his weakest album to date, but it also gave him a radio hit and a huge boost in the public eye.

Not all his music is great, he can be precieved as a bit corny at times, he repeats him self on several records but he always reinvents himself, his flows and concepts.

Logic’s versitility in flows are incredible, he sounds good on any beat and he is a talanted artist with many aspirations. Over-all he is a good MC with a fairly impressive cataloge, not a very consistent one, but his great work greatly outshines his weaker work. Logic’s potential often outshines his expectations and his complete finished projects.

He clearly deserves this nomination and attention to the track and the video. Not only because of all the good it has brung to people, but for the important message behind it. Clearly not a perfect song, but one worthy of beeing nominated.
