Kanye West To Debut Biblical ‘Nebuchadnezzar’ Opera At The Hollywood Bowl

Kanye West has provided details about his upcoming opera based on biblical figure Nebuchadnezzar before its debut at the Hollywood Bowl on Sunday (November 24).

The opera is set in the 6th century B.C.E. as it recounts the Babylonian King’s transition from an evil tyrant and conqueror to a follower of the Christian faith. The production is directed by Italian performance artist Vanessa Beecroft and features West’s Sunday Service collective, pop-soul singer Peter Collins and folk family band Infinity’s Song.

“West conceived of this opera as an expression of his commitment to both his faith and ever-expanding musical palette,” the press release explained. “Nebuchadnezzar brings together elements from different worlds, including opera, fine art, modern dance, and gospel music, to create an innovative performance structure. West’s sound is the bridge between these artforms.”

Ye mentioned he was writing the biblical opera during an interview with Beats 1’s Zane Lowe last month. The opera has been set to premiere less than a month after the rapper released his first gospel album Jesus is King.

Recently, Kanye announced he’s working on a sequel to Jesus is King with Dr. Dre.

The biblical opera premieres at 4 p.m. PST. Tickets are currently on sale with Tidal streaming the event exclusively.

      good luck kanye be good

      1. Lol, one of Kanye first big hits was “Jesus walks”. You act as if his love for Jesus is something new… No, he lost his black fan base, when CNN told them Kanye is an “uneducated negro”, and that black people must not like him anymore. They were given orders, and they took them!

    2. This whole Kanye west show is pretty entertaining. He has some weird plan in his head to turn fans into some psudo religious followers. I’ve bootlegged every album he’s ever released, never bought anything fashion wise from him and never bought a concert ticket to see him. I’m just sitting back and enjoying what this really is… entertainment for free. Kanye is hustling at the end of the day and won’t get a dime of me.

    3. Next album will feature a track all Pulpit Pimpin’ and will feature Creflo Dollar, T.D. Jakes, and Uncle Luke Campbell. All the religious pimps on one track.

    4. NICCA PLEAZE!!!!!!
Can the PSYCHO WARD please pick up this LAME and take him to a Rubber Room at the LOONY BIN?!@!?

    5. Gotta love how a popular rapper speaking of Jesus and positivity is big news and controversial, but a rapper speaking of Satan and negativity is normal, not news, and not controversial. Just shows where we have gotten as a society. I’m not religious, but I like Christianity to a degree. I don’t like the religious nuts who are rude and think they are above others, but I do like things that come from Christianity, like the 10 Commandments. Common sense, good moral ways to live life. If you live life that way, it will be good.

      1. got 6 sl*ts in my Maybach, 6 pack under my tank top, I got a snub nose that got 6 shots, try me, I think not

      2. I don’t think the issue is him speaking about Christianity, it’s the fact this all feels like another Kanye publicity stunt / cash grab. It was a year ago “I Love It” came out (just an example of him not being the most Christian). Also, anyone comparing themselves to Jesus their entire career isn’t really a good person to be a Chriatian rapper. Kind of defeats the entire point. It just doesn’t feel authentic. I can’t praise the Christian rappers enough like Lecrae, Andy Mineo, J Givens, etc. Damn shame, they should be the ones getting praise and not Kanye. They have been practicing what they preach FAR longer.

        1. Being a Christian doesn’t mean your a perfect human being, who does sin, curse, or do bad things lmao. I hate when people think that…

      3. Didn’t your boy just get press? FYI Newsflash Satan and Jesus are ONE AND THE SAME. SATANISM and christianity are cousins, both religions encourages folks to forfeit their true spiritual power in exchange for worldly possessions. Yall can keep them stumbling blocks. The Most High is the one and only POWER

      4. You have zero ability to discern what is real and what is not. Do you really want the guy teaching you about religion to be amanic narcissist married to a botoxed wannabe porn star? Do you want the message of one of the greatest human beings to ever live reduced to that?

    6. Kanye knows that Christianity didn’t exist in the 6th century BC… right??? This dude needs to pick up a history book. Or even the bible.
