R. Kelly’s lawyer believes his client is facing a tougher battle in his sexual abuse case due to the outcome of Jussie Smollett’s highly-publicized disorderly conduct case.
Attorney Steven Greenberg thinks the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office will be eager to prosecute Kelly to the fullest extent after dropping 16 felony charges against Smollett.
“I think it makes it more difficult for a friendly disposition because they’re going to be extremely reluctant to admit they brought these cases with scant evidence or that there are any other problems,” Greenberg told TMZ.
Greenberg suspects Cook County State’s Attorney Kim Foxx will view Kelly’s case as an opportunity for redemption after facing intense criticism from Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel and Police Superintendent Eddie Johnson for dropping all charges against Smollett.
The former Empire actor has maintained his innocence, but police believe Smollett staged an attack on himself and filed a false police report in January.
Kelly has been charged with 10 counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse. He is facing up to 70 years in prison if convicted on all counts.
The controversial singer has denied the allegations so far. He also broke down into tears while speaking about the situation during an infamous interview with CBS This Morning co-anchor Gayle King.

Dumbest excuse for a defense ive ever heard
So long as I can take both of them in my mouth I’m happy!!!
lol for your lawyer to say such..u gotta get another one b4 its too late
what’s so wrong with trying to defend a brother. did Aaliyah get married to r. Kelly at fourteen you know Muslim’s and Hindus marry young girls it is their culture. African American men I have seen a few you know who have a high profile they convert to islam and it is a whole new set of rules in the book. so if he married her because it was about culture not forcing her to marry how In the fuck do you get to forcibly marry r. Kelly. all those women they were all legal In his sex cult or some shit. the brother loves women and a bit kinky man give him a break start making music again.
R. Kelly wasn’t raised in those cultures and those cultures aren’t prevalent in this country. If he violated the law, then he should be held accountable. This isn’t some petty offense where he should be let off with a warning. Aaliyah shows we have known about his predatory behavior for nearly 25 years. It’s damn well time somebody do something about it.
I don’t konw if Jesus himself could save R.Kelly after all we know about him.
