Jay Electronica Teases TIDAL Release

For years, Jay Electronica has apparently been sitting on his completed studio debut Act II: Patents Of Nobility (as long as he didn’t delete it). He’s teased its release before, but each time fans have been left waiting for the follow-up to his 2007 breakout mixtape, Act I: Eternal Sunshine (The Pledge).

During that time the New Orleans MC has dropped some singles and the occasional guest verse, but in 2016 he ramped up his output, embarking on a short tour, appearing on Chance The Rapper’s Coloring Bookand releasing a single titled “The Curse Of Mayweather.

The elusive rapper once again teased his album’s release on Saturday night (July 2), posting a series of tweets quoting lines from Christopher Nolan’s 2006 film The Prestige.

In the final tweet, he tells his followers to “get Tidal,” the music streaming service co-founded by his Roc Nation label boss Jay Z.

“[T]o all those who have been patient with me and supported me over the years, thank you. And get #Tidal#AreYouWatchingClosely?” he wrote shortly before deleting his Twitter account.

    1. Well just drop it for fucks sake. Been a fan since 2008. Stopping fucking around with this bullshit. Every year you say some cryptic shit about dropping an album and never do. It’s amazing, in a sense, that it took you almost a decade since you blew up to (maybe) release this record. Sure, I’m gonna be mad hyped when it drops, I’m prolly gonna love the hell outta it, but I hope you understand your fans’ frustration with news like this. Fucking TIDAL isn’t a surprise given Jay Z, but it means one thing for sure: I ain’t paying for TIDAL so imma torrent it the day it drops.

    2. Fuck this dude, just blaze should of took all those beats back and put em to use with a real artist. He trolled the whole hiphop world for damn near a decade, his ship had been sailed.

    3. Fuck Tidal! That shit sucks! There top ten albums are made up of Jay-Z,Beyonce and Rihanna albums. Its just a platform to distribute and promote there own garbage ass music. After I went on there I lost the little bit of respek for Jay that I had. Used to be a huge fan. Copped reasonable doubt in 96′ and starting to wonder why I listened to that wack ass fraud for so long

    4. Jay really had a chance in 2007…then So Far Gone came out in 2009. His career never had a chance after that

    5. Dude is nice, but he kind of played himself. It should never take 5 years for an album to come out. I have tidal and i love the service. To me no other streaming service give you what tidal gives you for only 9.99 . But taking this long to come out with an album, people kind of chalk you up as a loss

    6. Everybody in here saying ‘they dont care’ will be the FIRST mothafuckkas signing up to TIDAL to hear it. hahahaha

      1. That’s what he wants.. that’s why it’s smart to release it on tidal which will probably get sold and the album will be lost

    7. Stop with TIDAL Kanye all his exclusives and I among still subscribe and I love Kanye haha 3 mill subscribers sell it JAY and keep losing respect one hunded your never be 2pqcno matter how much money you can’t buy that

    8. His ol bitch ass might as well throw it out for free for the few fans he has out there somewhere,he at least owes them that much…

    9. I’ll be the first to download. Even though it’s taken forever, I’ll always listen. None of these popular rap cats can touch this magic. When his voice touches the track, it just feels different.

    10. Quality over quantity, I’m as ready as I was in 2009. If one album shit on a trash rapper who put out something every month or so whole catalog, it was all worth it. Let’s go Jay.

    11. Same here man, if anything after nine years this album has become part of my life and I haven’t even heard it yet. I still listen to Act 1 today and still hearing stuff and re-examining it for new info. If anything he gave me just enough time to prepare for Act 2. I’m with you Jay!

      1. You’re the reason that this lazy piece of shit can just sit around and tease his fans and disrespect them all he mother fuckin wants. He’s got mind control over all of you.

    12. Bruh that’s how I feel! All I’ve been seeing is spiraling hate for this man. How could u hate this man! The boy made The Announcment, Exhibit A & C, Act 1, The Levees Broke, BETTER IN TUNE WITH THE INFINITE….just to name the surface. Took time off and traveled all over the world. I can’t wait to hear what this dudes talking about in this album. Some stuff is worth waiting for, and this was one for me.

      1. You can only have candy dangled in front of you before you lose interest. Fuck Jay Electronica and his whole family

    13. Its been nearly 10 years…. I don’t think anyone cares anymore.. People don’t even rap anymore. Just making grunt noises talking about Pandas and shit.

    14. There was a time when I cared about this album getting released, I swear. 4 years is about my limit. If it comes out and gets good reviews, cool, I’ll check that ish out. If the reviews say it blows, I’ll be inclined to take their word for it.

    15. Fuk this nigga. Sneak dissing Kendrick like a fuckin bitch. Fuck any album, track or verse you lay anywhere! Fuk you!
