Jay Electronica Gets Face Tattoo In Honor Of Minister Louis Farrakhan

Jay Electronica has made his allegiance to the Nation of Islam face tattoo official. On Sunday (January 30), the Roc Nation rapper added some fresh ink to his body in honor of The Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan, the current leader of the NOI.

The work of London-based tattoo artist Olivier Tattoo, the tattoo features the name “Farrakhan” in script font and sits above Jay Electronica’s left eyebrow. The New Orleans native posted a close-up of his face tat on Instagram soundtracked by his and Westside Gunn’s Hitler Wears Hermes 8: Side B collaboration “Free Kutter.”

“As my sweet mother would say… ‘Well son, fuckem,'” Jay Electronica wrote as the caption.

Jay Electronica, who is currently in the U.K. for a string of shows, has made no secret of his adoration for Minister Farrakhan and the Nation of Islam, the Black nationalist religious organization founded by Wallace Fard Muhammad in 1930.

His long-awaited 2020 debut album, A Written Testimony, is peppered with speeches from Farrakhan, while songs such as “Universal Soldier” and “Ezekiel’s Wheel” find the spiritual MC invoking Elijah Muhammad, the revered NOI leader and Malcolm X mentor who served from 1934 until his death in 1975.

Farrakhan even wrote a letter defending Jay Electronica in 2014 following his performance at the Brooklyn Hip Hop Festival, which received backlash from some corners of the NOI due to his use of “profanity” on stage while wearing a Fruit of Islam uniform.

Minister Farrakhan hasn’t been without his own controversy, of course. The 88-year-old leader has repeatedly been accused of making homophobic and anti-Semitic statements, and in 2019 was banned from Facebook and Instagram under their policies against dangerous individuals and organizations.

On the music front, Jay Electronica recently appeared on Curren$y’s Pilot Talk 4, delivering a guest verse on “AD6” that blew the Jet Life general away. With Donda 2 slated for a February 22 release, the elusive lyricist appears to be angling for another collaboration with Kanye West.

    1. Jay Elec at it again. A moment ago he was on Hov’s nutsack. He’s a low key campaigning to be hip-hop’s ambassador to the gay community.

        1. He definitely doesn’t have the respect of the people like Rakim but he has passed Rakim’s skill level. They are not that far apart in age but the last hot song from Rakim was Holy Are You 2009. If Rakim dropped some fire between then and now let me know. No features tho I’m talking about stand alone joints.

    2. kinda sad… for all the “Black man is god talk” and you worshipping another man inking up skin neither one of yall created.

May you meet Jesus before he meets you. John 3:16

    3. thought it was to ‘honor’ the dead muthafucker.. now he just looks like he bent over and spread his ass wide tha fuck open for another brova. so it’s the third time this month he got impregnated by another man

    4. Talented but uh, okay. Not a good look. I guess he’s not an official member, since traditionally the FOI frowns on beards, tattoos, etc.

    5. he waited till he was 45 years old to do this. jay Elect turns 46 in September and now he writes on his face. SMH

    6. Lol that’s so funny because NoI believes that god is a white man. Look it up. Elijah Muhammad met some Arab dude in prison and they started the cult known as Nation of Islam. The Arab dude WD Fard said he was god, he’s not black LOL.

Then Elijah’s son took over NoI and moved to traditional Islam. Farrakhan hated that because the cult and the control was over so he moved them back to a cult when he took over.

It’s so so funny and ironic lol

    7. Great Rapper, not so great move. I’m sure Farrakhan isn’t thrilled.

Nonetheless, PEACE to the Nation and the Gods.

    8. Where Farrakhan and the FOI at when it come to all the black bodies dropping in Chicago? Aint that where he’s based at? Why not step up and save some lives?
