J. Prince Calls On Kanye West, Drake, Nicki Minaj + More To Unite For Anti-Grammys Concert

    J. Prince is a music executive that knows how to get the job done. His history as the founder of Rap-A-Lot Records is the stuff of legend, not to mention his role in ending Kanye West and Drake‘s beef last year.

Three months after helping to organize Kanye and Drake’s Free Larry Hoover Benefit Concert, J. Prince is looking to orchestrate another major cultural event. On Monday (March 21), the Houston native took to Instagram to reveal his plans for an all-star concert in protest of the Grammys.

Prince called on Kanye West, Drake, Nicki Minaj, The Weeknd and others to come together to perform in Las Vegas on the same night as the 64th Annual Grammy Awards. His comments come on the heels of the Recording Academy removing Kanye as a performer due to his “concerning online behavior” toward his ex-wife Kim Kardashian, her new boyfriend Pete Davidson, The Daily Show host Trevor Noah and others.

“I recommend that the artists I mentioned above — and more — come together in Las Vegas and perform at the same time as the Grammys on a special network and streaming platform to prove that ratings will change where the Grammys are concerned when the No. 1 selling genre in music — Hip Hop — come together,” he said. “Because there’s power in numbers.”

He added, “The powers that be will be mad at me about this one. But fuck ’em! I love the culture. The seed has been planted; let’s water it.”

    J. Prince provided some historical context to his concert plans, reflecting on how the Recording Academy has treated Hip Hop over the last 30 years while comparing them to the U.S. prison system.

He also likened the Grammys’ decision to cancel Kanye’s performance and their historical snubs of Drake, Nicki Minaj and The Weeknd to the acts of a “slave master.”

“I’ve been watching the Grammys control and dictate our culture to their benefit up close and personal for the past 30 years,” he said. “And all the artists, managers and executives would do is complain, but never have the nuts to come together to do anything about it.”

Tyler, The Creator, Kanye West, J. Cole + More Reflected In 2022 Grammy Award Nominations

He continued, “This is a slave master, punish-a-n-gga mentality and act to remind us that no matter how much money we have, we’re still n-ggas in their eyes. So they cancel Kanye and discriminated against Drake, The Weeknd, Nicki Minaj and many others over the years. This will only be broken by us uniting our powers to bring about change moving forward.”

    J. Prince’s bombshell request has yet to get a response from the artists he mentioned, but considering how unlikely Kanye West and Drake‘s Larry Hoover concert seemed at first, his plans might not be that farfetched.

The 2022 Grammys are set to take place at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas on April 3.

    1. J dont did it again this is hilarious, not that I listen to any of those artists it will get 10 times the ratings as the grammys and that is a huge story and its all good to come together, not my cup of tea as I stick to the golden age pre 2000 before the machine pushed mnm on the masses and dumbed it down with the cash money thru to the current mumble dr suess whatever you wanna call the trash being released now besides nip & krit but huge move none the less

    2. I think everyone need to stop dissing on KAYNE. FURTHERMORE KIM K should not be given a free pass she acts like she is entitled. More importantly Pete D needs to learn what Hippa Law is he violates all the time as does Kim K. She is way better off with Kayne. PETEis just classless ass , he did that with my GF I would break his jaw.

        1. HIPAA stands for Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act. It simply means that medical personal will not give any personal or health information to anyone other than the patient and those approved by patient. Has nothing to do with giving your own personal information

    3. If J had artist involved, nominated or schedule to perform at the Grammy’s I would be willing to bet he wouldn’t have this idea.

    4. J prince want to boycott the grammy this the same dude that cheated numerous black artist on his record label, pay them crumbs while he got rich. Yea Ok follow him if you want to.

    5. J. Prince will soon be in trouble with law enforcement. Remember when he, Irv and Dame Dash were plotting to start a rappers’ union? What happened next was the result. Same thing gonna happen now if he pursue with this crap. The powers that be will be making his life a living hell.

    6. Why do grown ups keep acting so rebellious over some damn award show.. u don’t like it don’t watch or support it.. this crying and shit had to stop.

        1. Man you guys are so damn pussy it’s sick.. what happened to y’all? Used to be so upstanding now y’all just cry all day it’s so sad

    7. They should do it and call it the Black Grammy’s. We been stopped watching those racist people a long time ago

    8. It has nothing to do with race! Kayne takes it too far! He needs help. Has Kim threatened any of the women that he dates? No. Chill out and move on Kayne!

    9. Do you really think this will hurt the Grammy’s? This is probably what they want. They can take it back to the way it used to be. WISE UP!

      1. Yes, it will hurt the Grammys. The Grammys have been on a decline for years. Hip hop is the #1 genre in the world, to have a streaming concert while the fake ceremony is going on would kill their viewership, and we now know the Grammys are corrupt.

    10. If J Prince was looking for leadership through this effort, why in the phuck would he include Kanye on this? It’s more embarrassing that people treat Kanye like he aint crazy.

      1. Because Kanye is the catalyst of the recent item of note. Without including him there would be less merit to the opposing view of that of the Grammy. Think outside of just music as he said.

      2. Because he has big music influence and bigger influence outside of music than the rest of them.. Not to mention the money to pull off an event on a higher quality than the rest of them.
