J. Cole “2014 Forest Hills Drive” Release Date, Cover Art, Tracklist & Album Stream

    J. Cole has announced that his next album is titled 2014 Forest Hills Drive and will be released on December 9, the same day as the first part of Lil Wayne’s upcoming Tha Carter V.

The album is set to include 13 tracks but no other information about the music was released except that the project will feature no singles.

In addition to the announcement, J. Cole posted an iTunes pre-order link and released a short documentary about the concept behind the album.

“I’ve gotten to this point in my career and realized that, yeah I got a lot more dreams and I wanna go further, but at the same time I don’t want it if it’s at the expense of my happiness,” J. Cole says in the documentary. “And I don’t want it if it’s at the expense of my sanity or if I have to become someone who’s so out of touch with what’s real: the people that love you and the people that you love. There’s a lot of people in Hollywood right now who have been there for a long time and they’ve forgotten about their small-town lives because they like this life better. But this shit ain’t real.”

      1. his last album sounded great first 2 listens (quite an improvement over his major debut), but replay value wasnt that great.. album got old quick and didnt sound as good 10 listens later.

    1. Another soulless J Cole album with wannabe Kanye beats and raps about “fucking your girl”, and moving to new york for college. Oh Joy. This will probably be the best album of the year, but that’s not saying much. Hiphop is dead, it’s time to start a new genre.. I’m not impressed

      1. I laugh when lames such as yourself claim that hip hop is dead and blah, blah, blah. There were several very solid hip hop releases this year…..Cormega, Common, Ed Og, Diamond D, Blasphemy, Black Milk, Preach Muzik.

    2. Sounds like a mixtape cole wants to release for sale to generate money for his greedy ass. This carter 5 will shit on this pop ass sleepy bitch. Both in sales, and critically. All cole is is another drake wannabe.

      1. You’re joking, right? J Cole ain’t greedy, pop, or sleepy and he’s not a Drake wannabe. He’ll have a better album than Wayne’s wack ass C5, which will be full of pop shit and will have better sales and critical acclaim.

      2. Wayne’s album was a side album for the fans while Cole aimed for the pop market. With wayne going back to mainstream hiphop with tha carter 5 and cole taking a mixtape and selling it to idiots like you, wayne will dominate in sales.

      3. No such thing as a side album, it’s an official studio album. Cole’s album was not aimed for the pop market at all, that was Wayne, who never left the mainstream as he is mainstream. Cole is selling an album, not a mixtape (the true idiots are the one looking forward to C5 since it’s gonna be the same album that Wayne has always gave you). Wayne’s not dominating anything, especially since he doesn’t have a lot of buzz.

      4. Wayne has tons of fucking buzz for his album. That last album was a side album (yes its a studio album but was more looked as a “for the fans” type of album). Cole is just lazy with his music and, in desperate need of cash, took a mixtape and decided to sell it as his third album. I’ve heard much better mixtapes from wayne than albums from Cole.

      5. Wayne doesn have a ton of buzz for C5. His last album isn’t a side album (which doesn’t exist and all of his albums are “for the fans,” you idiot). J Cole isn’t being lazy, he just got through finishing his next album and is ready to release it, he never made a mixtape (why would he be desperate for cash when he already has cash? you’re a slow troll). That last sentence is a lie.

      6. Wayne has plenty of buzz and some hit singles. His Loyal song went top 10 and his last album was more for the fans than others. Tha Carter 5 is made with crossover success (meaning pop radio stations would play his hiphop songs.) J Cole just got done doing a mixtape and decided to release his shit as an album.

      7. No, Wayne doesn’t. Loyal is not his song and his last album is just like all of his albums, which are all “for the fans.” All of his albums are made for crossover success (which really means pop stations play his pop songs, he has no hip-hop songs). J Cole never made a mixtape, he made his third studio album.

      8. Don’t talk shit about my man, weezy. Loyal wouldn’t be a hit without wayne. J Cole is promoting his mixtape as his third album. This won’t end well for cole.

      9. He ain’t your man, little girl. Loyal would be a hit without Wayne and J Cole never made a mixtape, he made another album. This will end well for him, scoring a third hit album.

      10. Wayne’s last album was garbage full of wannabe club bangers and weak verses from weak rappers, Cole sold way more than wayne without a single rap feature. C5 will probably be weak as fuck.

      1. What? Forest Hills? Who would know that except some gay ass groupie like yourself.

Get Drake’s dick out of your mouth. J Cole is a way more talented rapper than Drake. Drake can only talk about a few things he’s not versatile at all. He makes music for girls and faggots

    3. Cool, I just hope this isn’t some kind of gimmick he’s starting, where he releases on the same day as someone else. He’s releasing the same day as Wayne, Wayne is garbage, but this will start a new “sales competition” feud. Hopefully it wasn’t Cole’s call, because it makes it look like he can’t release his albums without needing some kind of sales driver (outside of his singles) in order to boost sales.

    4. J.Cole is the wackest lyricist period. No creativity whatsoever. Every time I hear a J.Cole record I start dozing off. He puts out nothing but HOT GARBAGE period.

    5. Drake is from the suburbs of Canada. He’s the fake unlike Cole.

Drake is from the streets of canada. He started from the bottom working as an underpaid actor from degrassi and had a tough life.

      1. Aubrey was never from the streets of Canada. He wasn’t at the bottom as he was paid well by Degrassi. He had an easy life compared to other rappers.

      2. You only say that because you had one of the easiest lives out there. I had life pretty easy too but know when life can be tough for someone. And drake started from the bottom as an underpaid actor. When he started to rap, chris brown stole his moves and presented them as his own (cracks showed when he started abusing his fans and women.). Drake had to change his flow before his mainstream debut. That’s how life was tough for him.

      3. Drake never started from the bottom and he was never underpaid. Chris Brown never stole any moves from him since Drake doesn’t dance and he (Chris) was doing this music shit first and got famous first. Aubrey didn’t change his flow at all. His life wasn’t tough.

      4. His life definitely wasn’t like today. That’s for sure. Brown was a huge fan of degrassi and when he listened to drake’s raps in 2004/2005, brown copied his sound and ripped off drakes, michael jacksons, and usher’s movements. Brown of course doesn’t treat women with respect unlike drake. Today, Drake remains far more popular than ever while brown can’t get a hit single without wayne’s assistance.

      5. Just because he wasn’t a celebrity doesn’t mean his life was tough. Brown was never a fan of Degrassi and Drake didn’t even have raps in 2004/2005. He never copied Drake’s sound and moves (Drake doesn’t even have moves). Drake doesn’t treat women with respect, either, making songs talking shit about them and threatening them. Also, Chris can get a hit single without Wayne. Aren’t you tired of repeating the same lies? You accomplish nothing by doing so.

      6. All drake talked shit about was the people who disrespected him, including a few female hoes. Brown was preying on INNOCENTS!! Chris can’t get a hit without the assistance of others. Kid Ink lifted brown to success with show me. Brown can’t get a hit single for himself anymore.

      7. No, Drake talks shit about everybody, including innocents. Chris can get a hit single without assistance from others. He lifted Kid Ink to success with Show Me, not the other way around (how can Kid Ink lift anyone if he has no hits?).

      8. What innocents has drake talked shit about. Rihanna had no knowledge of brown’s affair and when she brought it up, he beat her (she’s actually an idiot for getting back with chris brown.). There was the fan at washington dc brown punched.

Kid Ink, a new artist, used his big buzz from the mixtapes to propel show me into a hit. He’s now working with usher.

      9. Everyone he talked about in songs and interviews. Kid Ink doesn’t have a big buzz from mixtapes, he relied on Chris Brown to make Show Me a hit since Kid Ink himself can’t make a hit by himself. Now he’s using Usher to try and score another hit.

      10. No, it’s the other way around. It was Kid Ink who crawled to Usher since Kid Ink himself can’t score another hit single, making him a one-hit wonder.

      1. What numbers constitutes weak anything? J Cole’s last album outsold the previous, this one will outsell them both.

      2. Not without promotion it won’t. J cole’s albums were aimed at the pop market. That Miguel song he did was shit.

      3. It does have promotion, so it will. None of J Cole’s albums were aimed at pop markets since they were hip-hop albums, not pop. That Miguel song isn’t shit, BTW.

      4. Even Nas thought his music was shit. Which led to a shitty song called nas let down. That’s something considering nas is also shit himself.

      5. Nas doesn’t think Cole’s music is shit (BTW, Let Nas Down isn’t shitty). And Nas isn’t shit, Wayne is shit.

      6. Nas made a remix to let nas down, and he was giving praise and said he didn’t want j cole to sell out. Soooo facts are facts. And lil wayne pre carter 3 is pretty dope in his own right just saying.

    6. Born Sinner was an Ok album but after watching the trailer for this I’m interested to see where j.Cole goes with this album not only sonically but content wise

    7. He ain’t your man, little girl. Loyal would be a hit without Wayne and J Cole never made a mixtape, he made another album. This will end well for him, scoring a third hit album.

Yes he is. We made love backstage. Loyal wouldn’t be a hit if it was just woman beater brown singing it.

      1. Bullshit. If you were a different guy, you wouldn’t post the same shit he does in the same way. You got exposed, teethboy.

    8. No, it’s the other way around. It was Kid Ink who crawled to Usher since Kid Ink himself can’t score another hit single, making him a one-hit wonder.

He ain’t a one hit wonder since he rising.

      1. If he was rising, then he would’ve scored another hit song, which he didn’t do, and his album would’ve been gold by now, which isn’t even the case. Kid Ink is a one-hit wonder and he’s not rising.

    9. As for the Alliyah biopic, its dope. The family is only complaining because they want to do their own film about the singer for money. Lifetime did them a favor.

      1. Now you’re just trying to go against the popular consensus. You know that Aaliyah movie sucked balls and it disrespected her name and legacy. Her family had a right to complain about that turd.

      2. I genuely don’t see the hate for it. Lifetime had a right to film a biopic about Allyiah yet her family insisted they only do a film. When liftime moved forward, they tried sabotaging the project. They even convinced her fans to hate on the project and make up BS. I thought it stayed true to her image and story.

      3. You don’t see the hate for it? The movie was fucking terrible. It took a shit on her name and it didn’t stay true to her image and story. You’re just making up bullshit trying to defend Lifetime for doing that piece of shit movie.

      4. It got everything wrong about Aaliyah. Plus, a terrible cast and a shit script makes this another shitty movie. The family didn’t make up any lies, BTW.

      5. The family only wanted to do their own film and lifetime had a right to do a movie based on alliyah. Quit being mad that it was a hit.

      6. They can, Lifetime didn’t have the right. The film flopped, end of story. Quit wasting time defending a movie that makes the VH1 TLC movie look like a masterpiece and that movie also sucked.

      1. C5 isn’t gonna go platinum and Cole ain’t bombing at all (in fact, his album is #1 on ITunes’ hip-hop charts). You got that last shit backwards, it’s Cole who has plenty of buzz while Wayne has low buzz. Once again, you dodged the question of what weak anything is.

      1. Non Sinner was a disappointment. Nowhere near GKMC, about the same level with Kanye’s latest bullshit album. I have never liked Cole’s flow/delivery, beats are okay sometimes. He should stick to producing without rapping.

    10. its a bug risk not putting features on his album..but maybe he will make up for it with good lyrical content and i hope he lets other guys do the production (Timbaland & Mike Will etc).
Otherwise so good so far..l like the way he is building up the anticipation….releasing a bit of infor about the album in bits and bits…..was kinda hoping for a rihanna feature but hey….we can only dream right..

    11. I’ve been listening to the album non-stop now. It certainly isn’t an album to bump at a party, but that’s not what J Cole is about. If anyone is looking for some mainstream catchy beats, they aren’t going to find it here.

But that’s cool, cause the album sounds better when you really listen to it. It’s the kind of album that reminds you to listen to rap the way it used to be listened to – as lyric! It’s an amazing culture of storytelling that get’s clouded by the industry. I think it’s smart of J Cole to deny features and singles because it isolates him as a voice and takes the industry out of the picture. This music is not about what sells, it’s about speaking to people who will listen. So instead of bashing on the guy, see that he isn’t looking to please the partygoers, but listeners.

I’ll be listening on the commute home from work.

    12. J Cole got exposed again for buying his own albums of that flop. Eminem couldn’t even sell 150k opening week so why is J Bitch showing 250k 1st week?

      1. 1. Nobody exposed J Cole for anything.
        2. He doesn’t even buy a lot of albums.
        3. His album obviously isn’t a flop if it’s number one on ITunes and is gonna sell 270K.
        4. Shady XV is not a solo Eminem album, so that doesn’t count.
        5. All of J Cole’s albums have sold over 200K, so him doing 270K is not a surprise.

    13. no drake feature no fucks given. When will these rappers learn they need drake features to be relevent.

      1. J.coles album fucking sucks, it’s worst then the last which was worst then the last. bring that friday night lights “farewell” “before i’m gone” j.cole – blank bored stare the entire time listening to this album.

removed my headphones and threw them down, was so pissed after listening to this, expected so much more. the BEATS SUCCKKK YO. audio valium. cringeworthy singing, laziest hooks, lamest rhymes and patterns, his doing his best eminem , shouting loud and showing us how angry he is with nothing to say. abc rhyme patterns just rhyming the end of every sentence —–cat, —–hat, ——-sat.

then his like oh fuck people arguing over who’s the king everyones the king, that doesn’t matter. then the net track his like fuck you i’m the king of this. then white people snatched the sound. does he know him and drake are half white with with white mothers who raised them…white? smh.

The Warm up and friday night lights are the only projects you need from this guy. he just seems pissed his realised his nowhere near the caliber of talent required to take the throne (nowhere even close to drake or kendricks talent and they in turn are nowhere close to the talent of the 90s cats like nas, big pun, jay, pac, eminem, raekwon, andree 3000 in their prime – not even close) so now it’s fuck the throne fuck being the best. well better to hate what you can’t have cole. this guy is a hypocrite he seems more interested in being the best then making the best records or best rhymes – his trying to be personal like kendricks good kid mad city but he was a better rapper when he told other peoples stories and connected himself to them. friday night lights is what this album is trying to be but check out friday night lights check out – farewell and you you’ll find that there isn’t one song on this new album that captures him reminiscing as well, as interesting, on as dope a beat with as dope a flow. farewell, before i’m gone, 2 face, the autograph, head buss, rise above, see world, all these songs from his mix tapes shit all over anything on this album. the worst song on friday night lights would be the best song on this album. get this guy off the stage his not even a contender anymore. memphis bleak 2.0.

        do better.

and people will praise his mediocrity like Ellsworth Thoohey in the Fountianhead. Knedrick/ Drake = Howard Roark J.Cole – Peter Keating 0 hot gargabe soup bags

    14. Loved Mixtape J Cole, and his first album was dope. Last one was just aight but this one is straight up wack. Really disappointed as a one time huge J Cole fan.
