Isaiah Rashad Clarifies Kendrick Lamar ‘Diss’ In Wake Of TDE Breakup

Isaiah Rashad is currently on the road promoting his critically-acclaimed album The House Is Burning. During a recent visit to Power 105.1’s The Breakfast Club, the Tennessee rap star cleared up rumors about an alleged beef between himself and Top Dawg Entertainment labelmate Kendrick Lamar

Charlamagne Tha God wasted no time asking Rashad about his tweet that came after Lamar revealed he was leaving TDE after his upcoming album. According to Rashad, fans were jumping to conclusions.

“I found [Kendrick was leaving TDE] after n-ggas said I was dissing him,” Rashad explained. “I was on the way to my kid’s birthday party on Saturday, and me and her mom had had a little verbal whatever, and I knew that I couldn’t really say anything that I wanted to say, so I said it on Twitter for a second, and I’m forgetting that n-ggas are watching me, so I deleted it. Not about him but I’m like damn, she’s actually going to see this and it’s kinda mean.”

The tweet fans took as a Kendrick Lamar diss read, “everybody emotional. u not that special. quit embarrassing us.” Rashad realized where the confusion lied, deleted his tweet, and issued another one explaining he wasn’t dissing K Dot.

“N-gga can’t eem subtweet his ex in peace,” Rashad wrote in the second tweet.

Kendrick Lamar caught fans off-guard when he took to his Twitter and left a message for his fans, revealing his TDE days are over once his highly-anticipated album arrives.

Kendrick Lamar Announces Next Album Will End TDE Career: 'See You Soon Enough'

“As I produce my final TDE album, I feel joy to have been a part of such a cultural imprint after 17 years,” Lamar wrote in part of the letter. “The Struggles. The Success. And most importantly, the Brotherhood. May the Most High continue to use Top Dawg as a vessel for candid creators. As I continue to pursue my life’s calling. There’s beauty in completion. And always faith in the unknown. Thank you for keeping me in your thoughts. I’ve prayed for you all. See you soon enough.”

      1. If you think he’s going to be a free agent, you have no idea. That’s not how the game goes homie. Look up who he’s signed to and you’ll see TDE/Aftermath/Interscope/Universal. TDE, Cash Money, MMG, Grand Hustle…all these are really imprints. They are not the label. He can leave TDE, but you best believe Universal has their hooks in him and he will be somewhere in that building regardless. People forget Meek Mill was signed to Grand Hustle first before T.I. got arrested (again). Warner Bros. let him slide over to MMG because it was a good look but he was always really signed to Warner Bros. That wasn’t going to change. Just like 2Pac going to Death Row because he was already on Interscope. They are not really changing labels. The REAL LABELS (the majors) will let you move to a different part of the plantation, but they ain’t letting you go. They will probably announce Kendrick’s own “record label” (imprint) and people will celebrate like “Look at him, he bossed up and made a power move!” When in reality, he’ll just still be signed to Universal like he always was. He just won’t have to answer to Top Dawg.

        1. You are speaking factz! Because he does indeed already have his own label- PGLang to which his cousin, Baby Keem, is now signed to. And it’s a creative branding type deal that works in different avenues beyond just music and artists.

    1. No free agents in Hollywood. Everybody’s signed to everybody who’s signed to everybody. Leave one you still signed to the D’evils.
