Iggy Azalea Screams Racism Over Beyonce’s “Becky” Lyric

Iggy Azalea wants Beyonce to put some respect on the names of white women.

While most people are stuck on trying to figure out the identity of the “Becky with the good hair” mentioned on Beyonce’s “Sorry,” Australian rapper Iggy Azalea is more concerned with what she feels is the offensive nature of the lyric.

In an exchange with a Twitter follower, Iggy demanded that they never refer to her as “Becky.”

The musician later clarified that her remarks aren’t “Bey shade.” She also explained that Beyonce’s “Becky” reference on “Sorry” would be similar to her referring to black men as “Deshawns.”

“@phagmob @iggys_bitch it was used as a play on brain and brian. you would not be down if i started calling all black men ‘deshawns’…and by the way, this is not bey shade. i love her and the album. but my name is iggy, and you will all call me that,” Iggy Azalea wrote in a reply to two followers.

Iggy, who once opened for Beyonce and rapped about “Becky” on FKi’s “I Think She Ready,” continued to speak on the “stereotypical name” used in reference to the woman Jay Z allegedly cheated on Beyonce with.

“@phagmob girl BYE. do you know how many time ppl have called me BECKY? it didnt have any kind of positive intention behind it. dont start…generalizing ANY race by calling them one sterotypical name for said race. i personally dont think is very cool, the end,” she tweeted.

    1. lol she’s right though. what a time to be alive when even iggy azalea’s fighting back against black people’s bullshit.

      1. Whats even more funny is how IA is saying this about beyonce while being married to nick young whos the biggest of biggest bullshitters that “black ppl” have to offer

    2. Women have been called bitches and hoes in songs for years and nobody bats an eyelid. In fact women be singing those same lyrics in clubs with a smile on their face. Now you call a white girl Becky and everyone loses their shit?

      1. That’s a good point I didn’t even think about that. Your right Iggy point would be more valid if she didn’t use similar references. I still think bey is wack though.

    3. But Becky is the perfect name to describe the average white chick…when I hear the word Becky I think of a basic white chick who is great in the oral sex arena

      1. And Brenda for a blac woman. Is this ok? Nah, I gotta add something. Like throwing babies in the garbage?

      2. No it’s not the same cuz all black women don’t grow they babies is the trash..as matter fact very few black women do…..but it is fact that pretty much all white women excell at sucking black cock

    4. Becky is about a broad’s oral skills and has nothing to do with race. That’s why she said Becky with the good hair. But leave it to the “Runaway Slavemaster,” which she swore up and down wasn’t racist 1 bit, to make it about race to get this irrelevant moron in the news with this. SMH. Make this idiot disappear.

    5. This from Plies writeup on the single when it was released. The song refers to a woman who is good at performing oral sex, in which “Becky” is a slang term. Nothing to do with race whatsoever, but Iggy has repeatedly shown she’s not that bright.

    6. Don’t fall for it people this is just iggy trying to create a buzz, remember the issue with her bf swaggy p another publicity stunt, she drop a song and video a day after it happen it was a decent song but it flop. Make some dope music with meaning, and then speak on social issues. By the way Beyonce sucks

    7. Anybody remember like 3 months ago when bey was on that black power movement stuff dang what happen?? Her team is smart though, they wouldn’t even let her do any interviews because they know shes not capable of answering any question about social and political topics. Bey lyrics Spin on it-jump on it-twerk it-work it yeah I feel like she says that in every song she should get new song writers

    8. Yo Danielle Harling how can you take yourself seriously as a journalist when this “news” is really just a thinly veiled swipe at an artist you don’t like? Just by using the word “screams in the headline you’ve portrayed her as crazy. There are other subtle comments that show your angle like mentioning how she rapped about Becky before and how she’s “more concerned” about that word being offensive than about who Becky is. Please stop wiping your ass with the news and report it without bias.

    9. shes right, if she said im out here hanging with these tyrones black ppl would be on CNN right this very momeny

    10. what’s dumb about the “lyric” is the “good hair” part. not the becky part. people are dumb for classifying hair as “good” and “bad.” People are different… Are brown eyes “bad” and blue eyes “good?” Are full lips “good” and thin lips “bad?” seriously… what the fuck is it that we are really doing to ourselves as a collective with this backwards ass thinking in 2016? Content of character people… ever heard of it? Beyonce’s self persception is fucked… so it’s not all the way surprising…. she did say she wished she was born latina, because being herself i guess means she has to fix her “bad hair” with fake ass wigs and weave….

    11. Iggy you still got martial issues with Swaggy P (that’s a grown man callin himself that, folks). Calling you Becky is akin to you rapping In a voice that makes you sound as if your imitating a black man. So no Iggy, we won’t stop calling you Becky until you find your own voice. Shouldn’t you be busy stealing Kendrick flows (to horrible result) ?

    12. The lyric and similar uses of the name make me so mad, NOT because it is a term for white people, but because you are turning my name into so many offensive things. How the fuck would she feel if culture as a whole turned Beyonce into a term for oral sex, and then just a generalization for every negative stereotype about white women??? I only see my name used condescendingly in pop culture now, and it is not ok.

      1. Rebecca these people are ignorant. I get where you’re coming from. Beyoncé has no right to offend anyone. I don’t care how powerful people think she is.

      2. Rebecca these people are ignorant. I get where you’re coming from. Beyoncé has no right to offend anyone. I don’t care how powerful people think she is.

    13. So its not racists when she tires to use a black accent when she never did before she came to America? FOH.

    14. Why you with nick then every black men know white girls do things black girls don’t catching things to the face or in they mouth

    15. This dried up ass bitch need stop with the shit and go back to Australia we don’t want you, I repeat we don’t want you…. shit

    16. This is the dumbest bitch ever. What, she never heard of white people calling all black men Tyrone? Shit, them calling us Tyrone helped propel Erykah Badus song “Tyrone.”
