Fans of Tha Alkaholiks can rejoice. Not only is the group back together and working on a new album, but they don’t have to wait long for new music. In fact, Tash‘s [click to read] new album, Control Freek [click to read], is out now via Amalgam Digital. Tash has had a lot of questions surrounding his absence from the rap world including rumors about a beef with Xzibit and more. In an exclusive interview with HipHopDX, Tash spoke about this, a surprise guest at his album release party in New York and more.

Recently, Tash was able to travel overseas for a few shows with Xzibit, someone rumored to have had beef with the Lik.

All everybody wanted to know was, ‘How are you standing next to Xzibit?’ Isn’t there beef with you and Xzibit?’ They want to hear the negative shit,” Tash told us. “We’re sitting there laughing, clowning. Big TV there. We’re having the time of our lives, man! Xzibit sitting right next to me and they’re like ‘So, what’s up with you and Xzibit? Don’t you want to beat him up?’ I’m like ‘What the fuck y’all talking about? Xzibit’s sitting right here. If I wanted to beat him up or if he wanted to beat me up, it would have been poppin’ already. I don’t get it. Never have. Never will.”

Back from that stint of shows overseas, Tash said his new New York release party was one to behold.

Grand Puba of Brand Nubian was up in my album release party in New York last night. He got on the microphone and busted. He didn’t say ‘Give me ten g’s to do this shit’ or nothing. He just said to turn the mic on and let’s get down like emcees.”

With the album out, he hopes it can bring some fun to the left coast.

The west coast needs some fun, man. They’re too gloomy. I don’t understand how a person can’t bring fun to the party!”

His current single, “New Bikini” is full of the fun he’s talking about.

How can you not like that shit? How can you not appreciate someone who’s not coming slanging drugs, bringing y’all cocaine and crack? I’m just having fun with my life, man!”

More from Tash in a full length interview later this month. Stay tuned.
