A request to delay or intervene Chris Brown‘s preliminary hearing has been denied by The California Supreme Court, reports The Associated Press.

Records show that a petition was filed by the R&B singer’s attorney to delay the hearing, and that it was denied on Wednesday (June 17).

Mark Geragos, Brown‘s lawyer, requested for California’s high court last week to delay the singer’s felony assault case, which had previously been rejected by an appeals court.

Brown is due in court on Monday (June 22) for the preliminary hearing, after which the judge will determine whether or not there is sufficient evidence for the case to go to trial.

As previously reported, Brown was arrested in February for allegedly beating his girlfriend at the time, Rihanna. The singer could be called upon to testify during Brown‘s hearing.
