EarthGang has been honored with their own day in their hometown of Atlanta during a fundraising event they held for their eponymous non-profit organization.

On Saturday (April 27), Doctor Dot and Olu sponsored a 5K run for sustainable environmentalism near Piedmont Park. According to The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Atlanta City Councilmember Marci Collier Overstreet declared the day “EarthGang Day” right after the run was complete.

“Moving into the space where not only being a participant but being a facilitator and conduit for bringing these experiences to people, where they don’t have to feel like they have to be a world-class athlete in order to move their bodies, in order to engage in something that’s healthy, and coupling it with your fanbase, is amazing,” Olu said to the outlet, in response to the honor.

“We come from Black people that have high blood pressure and diabetes, and things like that. You don’t wanna keep that going,” added Dot. “Now I’m seeing people that want to live longer.”

Back in February, EarthGang released Robophobia.

Based on an animated trailer from the group, the sci-fi undertaking explored virtual reality and artificial intelligence.

Two days later, they shared its album cover with the caption: “ROBOPHOBIA | FEB 23, 2024 | PART 2 #EarthGangVsTheAlgo.”

According to a statement posted on the pair’s social media on February 12, “Robophobia is a sonic dive into a new terrain for EarthGang as they explore new soundscapes and topics on imperfections, connections and projections within humanity’s relationship with each other and AI.”

Below the note, the Atlanta MCs also listed a phone number “FOR MORE INFO.” Upon calling it, a robotic voice can be heard saying: “Hello. Don’t be afraid. I’ve come to help. We’ve all come to help. We’re just like you.”
