Hit maker Akon announced today that he will be releasing two separate fragrances this fall, a move that has him following in the footsteps of fellow rappers Jay-Z and Kanye West who have also signed fragrance deals in recent months [click to read].
Produced in partnership with Akon’s recently formed company, Konvict Cosmetics, the two scents Konvicted (aimed towards the younger demographic) and Aliaune (christened after his real first name and aimed towards more mature consumers) will be available through the company’s website. A 3.4 oz. of Konvicted will sell for $35 while the Aliaune scent will go for $55.
In other news, widely respected disc jockey, Q-Bert, has announced today the opening of the first ever video-based online deejay school. The school, abbreviated QSU (Q-Bert Skratch University) will present competitive video curriculum that will allow students to learn basic scratching techniques as well as more advanced “battle tactics.” Using sophisticated video software, students can send Q-Bert videos of practice sessions that he will review and post responses to on the site. In addition, the highly acclaimed turntablist will invite special guest deejays and others to provide their professional opinions.
With 20 years of turntable experience, the San Francisco native is hoping that the online university will help to bring scratching fans and aspiring deejays together.
