Long Beach, California-based rapper Daz was among the last original Death Row Records artists to be signed to the seminal gangster rap label, but like other Death Row inmates who have parted ways with the label, the rapper/producer is striking out on his own with a familiar partner.
While the Dog Pound hasn’t released an album since their 1995 self-titled debut, Daz Dillinger and Kurupt Young Gotti are finally about to drop their long-awaited reunion project, entitled Dillinger & Young Gotti, according to the group’s publicist.
Since Death Row Records still owns the title Tha Dogg Pound, the duo will now be known simply as DPG. Dillinger & Young Gotti was produced entirely by Daz and features contributions from Xzibit and RBX, among others. The lead single and video from the album will be “Coastin”.
The album is slated to drop on May 1st on Daz’ own DPG Records. Daz also owns Dillinger Records, with both labels being distributed by Southwest. As we previously reported, Snoop Dogg had signed Tha Dogg Pound, among other acts, to his Dogghouse Records, but apparently that deal fell through.
