According to the Medical Board of California, Dr. Jan Adams, the man who performed plastic surgery on Kanye West’s mother, Dr. Donda West, the day before she died, has surrendered his medical license. After the state medical board brought charges against him for two convictions of drunk driving, Adams admitted “the truth of each and every allegation” in court documents.
“The mission of the Medical Board is public protection, and this action reflects the board’s ongoing commitment to that mission,” Barb Johnston, the Medical Board‘s executive director, said in a statement.
This past January, Adams was arrested for driving the wrong way on a Bay Area highway with a blood alcohol level of .20, and sent to prison for one year [click to read]. He had already been charged with two prior DUI convictions in 2003 and 2006 respectively.
On November 9, 2007, Dr. Jan Adams performed multiple procedures on Dr. Donda West, including a tummy tuck and breast reduction. She died the following day, leading to the destruction of Adams’ reputation, and extreme scrutiny of his medical practices. Prior to the death of Donda West, Adams was in high demand and popular among television shows such as The Oprah Winfrey Show and the Discovery Channel’s Plastic Surgery: Before and After.
