Although production company Morgan Creek and Afeni Shakur’s Amaru Entertainment have been battling over the rights of deceased rapper Tupac Shakur for close to five months now there seems to be no end to the battle between the two companies.

Yesterday, March 16, Amaru Entertainment filed a $10 million cross-complaint against Morgan Creek, claiming that the company sabotaged potential deals for Amaru Entertainment and tried to gain the life rights of Tupac without full consent. Possession of Tupac’s life rights would have given Morgan Creek permission to use Tupac’s catalogue in their bio-pic on the rapper.

Instead of negotiating in good faith with [Amaru], they sought to obtain the rights by concocting a non-existent ‘agreement’ and engaging in heavy-handed threats, coercion and intimidation to interfere with and ultimately destroy the film project,” a representative for Amaru Entertainment explained.

According to Skip Miller, an attorney for Amaru Entertainment, Morgan Creek will have to “…pay millions in compensatory and punitive damages for harming our business.

Last month, Morgan Creek attempted to sue Amaru Entertainment after Afeni Shakur and the company allegedly backed out of a deal that would have given Morgan Creek the life rights of Tupac.

In the cross-complaint filed today in Los Angeles Supreme Court, Amaru Entertainment claims that they never made any deal with Morgan Creek. Morgan Creek has yet to speak on the cross-complaint made by Amaru Entertainment.
