With 2008 ending and 2009 in full effect, the annual Justo Mixtape Awards are gearing up to honor a new group of mixtape artists and deejays who made last year’s Hip Hop music scene even stronger than the last.

Teaming up with HipHopCaucus.com this year, the Justo Mixtape Awards offer Hip Hop fans the chance to write in nominees for their favorite mixtape, mixtape artist, and mixtape deejay from the past year. Fans will also have a chance to vote on the final nominees when they are released a few weeks from now.

Along with a plethora of artists who released a handful of mixtapes last year, one notable front runner for several categories is Sha Stimuli [click to read], who released twelve mixtapes in 2008 including Hotter Than July, The Funeral, and The Break-up respectively. For his contributions to the mixtape arena, Sha is up for “Mixtape Artist of the Year,” “Mixtape of the Year,” and “Mixtape Duo of the Year” following his work with DJ Victorious.

As would be expected, the Justo Awards have also expanded their number of categories. One in particular that stands out is the “Politically Inspired Mixtape of the Year” award, influenced by the monumental presidential election in 2008. Front-runners for that category include Sha Stimuli (March on Washington), DJ Green Lantern [click to read] (Yes We Can), and Nas (The Nigger Mixtape).
