Chicago police are expected to charge singer Jennifer Hudson’s brother-in-law, William Balfour, with the murders of Hudson’s mother, brother and 7-year-old nephew.

According to a spokesperson for the Chicago Police Department, Balfour, who has been in custody since the October 24 murders due to a parole violation, was transferred to Chicago police custody yesterday (Dec. 1), after having been served an arrest warrant.

Balfour will be held in the Wentworth area pending approval of the charges by the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office.

Investigators presented evidence last month that Balfour, Hudson’s sister’s estranged husband, had a gun matching the weapon used in the slayings.

Hudson’s mother, 57, and older brother, 29, were found inside Hudson’s home in Chicago on Nov. 24. Julian King, Hudson’s nephew, was reported missing shortly thereafter. His body was found in an SUV in Chicago the following Monday.

Balfour has denied all involvement in the killings to the authorities. His alibi has been contradicted by his girlfriend, and a neighbor who lives on the block where Balfour was arrested claims he had seen a man matching his description drive up in a white SUV approximately three hours after the slayings.
