After deliberations concerning the child support lawsuit between T.I., real name Clifford Harris, and his ex-girlfriend LaShon Dixon from a few weeks ago, Atlanta Superior Court Judge Bensonetta Tipton Lane has decided in favor of Dixon, according to the Associated Press on Tuesday (September 23rd).
The previous payments of $2,000 per month will now be raised to $3,000, with T.I. still ordered to pay uninsured medical bills, private school lessons, and all extracurricular activities taken by the two sons he and Dixon share.
Though not quite content by the decision, Dixon’s attorney Randy Kessler told the AP that more money ultimately was the quest for her children. “She was just getting by with the children, while they lived a different life with their father. It can’t be complete opposites on the other side. Every little bit helps.”
As a compromise, Tipton Lane also granted T.I. joint custody of both boys, which will allow the Atlanta rapper more time with his sons than he had previously been given (around 40%). At this, T.I.’s lawyer John Mayoue explained the judges’ decision was more in the rapper’s favor. “The court ordered him to continue doing what he had already offered to do and what he has been doing since the children were born. He’s very pleased with the order,” said Mayoue.
