According to the New York Post, Run DMC’s highly-anticipated concert at New York City’s Roxy was cancelled due to “security concerns.” The paper quoted the club’s night manager,Morgan McLean as telling the promoter “We don’t do hip-hop,” and quoting opening act The Beatnuts as a security risk.
After consulting with police and the community board, the promoter decided to remove The Beatnuts from the bill. The Roxy still refused to let Run DMC play. The show’s promoter is considering suing the club. As is always the case though, it’s the fans who lose out the most.
Run DMC’s second comeback album Crown Royal was released to stores yesterday.
