Los Angeles, CA

It appears the new generation of West Coast artists are inadvertently forming a new Westside Connection in the city of Los Angeles.

On Friday (June 17), Shady Records lyricist Westside Boogie delivered his 12-track More Black Superheroes album, complete with guest features from Snoop Dogg, Smino, Soulja Boy and more. Roc Nation signee Kalan.FrFr also appears on the project and decided to commemorate the occasion with a post on his Instagram account on Friday remarking on the years-long path to making his and Boogie’s collaboration a reality.

“@westsideboogie SXSW 2016 I told you one day I was gone make a song wit you and we made a banger foo,” he wrote next to a screenshot of their “Something Strange” effort, which also features singer/songwriter Mamii.

Following his show of support for Westside Boogie, Kalan.FrFr quickly pivoted and began teasing his upcoming joint-effort release with fellow Angeleno Blxst, who’s fresh off the release of his latest project Before You Go and a cameo on Kendrick Lamar’sMr. Morale & The Big Steppers.

“Me & my brother @blxst got something special coming y’all ready?,” he wrote in the caption of a video snippet of the unreleased track, which is set to hit streaming services on June 24.

While it’s unclear whether or not all three artists are preparing a collaboration for future release, the L.A. natives have clear mutual ties linking them together as early as 2014 when Kalan.FrFr got the beat for his fan favorite “Right Wit It” from Blxst.

Not to mention back in 2020, Westside Boogie and the “Overrated” vocalist connected with Long Beach rap artist KB Devaughn on the remix to his “Wop Wop” banger.
