In some rather bizarre news, Priority, who supposedly has merged with Capital, recently made the announcement that they plan to release a new Snoop Dogg album in the summer of 2002 via Snoop’s Doggystyle imprint. This goes opposed to the news that MCA snapped the signature of the west coast based rap artist last year. Priority has said that Snoop will be recording fresh new material with the likes of Ja Rule and producer Timbaland.
A couple of things makes this news a little strange, the first being that it was our understanding that Priority had merged with Capital Records and didn’t exist as a label and the second, Snoop’s last album “Last Meal” was specifically titled as the last time Priority will be able to feed themselves off Snoop’s record sales.
One thing that we can assure, it will not be a Greatest Hits album or Deathrow old joints album. Even though this may conflict against news reported last year, the rest of Snoop’s Doggystyle Records artists should be released through MCA.
