Despite backlash from rappers such as Sauce Walka and Freddie Gibbs about the origin of the term, it appears Gunna,Young Thug and Future’s efforts to popularize the “Pushin P” lingo from their popular single has paid off.

On Tuesday (March 15), the trio of Atlanta-bred lyricists became the first artists of 2022 to earn a gold certification from the RIAA for their efforts on their “Pushin P” collaboration which appeared on Gunna’s DS4EVER album back in January.

The gold plaque for “Pushin P” serves as yet another accolade for Gunnna’s DS4EVER album, which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 Albums Chart after a brutal sales battle with The Weeknd’s Dawn FM project.

Gunna’s DS4Ever is his highest-charting offering from his signature Drip Season mixtape series, as the previous iteration, Drip Season 3, debuted and peaked at No. 55 in 2018. It’s also his highest selling release and posted a major increase in first-week sales with 150,300 equivalent album units earned compared to his collaborative Drip Harder album with Lil Baby, which also sold 130,000 units in 2018.
