Nelly is speaking out against an internet rumor that began circulating this week. On Tuesday (January 11), the platinum-selling artist was accused of rewarding a woman just $100 after discovering his duffle bag containing $300,000. Nelly hopped in The Neighborhood Talk‘s comment section and emphatically denied anything like that had transpired.

“Cap,” he wrote. “SUUUUUUUPERRRRRR CAAPPP!!! I didn’t lose shit idk what bag or who’s bag they talkin bout but it dam show wasn’t mine.”

A clip of the woman getting hassled by her friends kicked off the apparent hearsay, with an unidentified man saying in the video, “Yo, we up here in the bowling alley. We found Nelly’s bag with $300,000 and guess what she do? She gave it back. Tell ’em what he give you!”

She replies, “Leave me alone!” before muttering, “$100.” The man then responds, “They gave her one hundred fucking dollars. Where they do that? On the radio station? They gave her $100 for giving back $300,000.”

Nelly Aired Out By St. Lunatics Rapper Ali In Response To 'Another Subliminal Diss'

Nelly, of course, has faced much more serious allegations. In October 2019, the “Hot In Here” rapper and a woman who accused Nelly of sexual assault reached a settlement out of court. Documents filed in federal court on stated the accuser has informed the judge she and Nelly “recently settled their dispute.”

However, the terms of the agreement were confidential and it’s unclear if any money exchanged hands. The lawsuit also named Nelly’s girlfriend Shantel Jackson, who the accuser attempted to sue for defamation but failed.

In 2017, Nelly was accused of sexual assault by another woman named Monique Greene who ultimately refused to cooperate with police. Although she dropped the charges, she tried to sue him for defamation. Nelly countersued, accusing Greene of the same thing. Both suits were dismissed the following year.
