Nate Dogg, whose real name is Nathaniel Hale, pleaded guilty Tuesday in to aggravated trespass and battery from a 2006 domestic complaint filed by his ex-girlfriend.

Nate, a founding member of rap group 213 with Snoop Dogg and Warren G, was most successful in collaborations with other Hip Hop artists, contributing to over 60 chart topping singles, and four Grammy nominations.

In 2006, the 38-year-old artist was charged with misdemeanor aggravated trespass, telephone harassment, battery assault, dissuading a witness from reporting a crime and violating a restraining order from a previous domestic incident involving breaking and entering into a Newport Beach home that was occupied by his ex-girlfriend, her new boyfriend, as well as the boyfriend’s mother. According to TMZ, Nate punched the boyfriend in the face and then fled the scene.

While three of the five charges were dropped in court, Nate‘s ex and her new boyfriend have both filed restraining orders against the singer.

The plea deal in the Orange County, California court room resulted in a slap on the wrist for Nate. The Long Beach native is being ordered to complete a treatment program specifically for those with domestic violence issues, three years probation, and was stripped of rights to own a weapon for the next 10 years.

Meanwhile, Nate is currently recuperating from a stroke he suffered in December 2007, which paralyzed the left side of his body. Nate‘s last significant appearances on albums were on 2005’s In the Mid-Nite Hour by Warren G. It has been over five years since Dogg released a solo album.
