JID has been called out by his own fans after reneging on his promise to release music throughout 2024.

Back in January, the Dreamville rapper indicated that 2024 would be a prolific one for him by writing on X (formerly Twitter): “Ima just drop music all year and see what happens.”

However, as the year draws to a close, JID has so far only dropped two freestyles, in addition to guest verses on tracks by Eminem, Ab-Soul, BIA, French Montana and 21 Lil Harold, among others.

In recent days, fans have flocked to social media to remind JID about his statement and are holding him to account.

“That Ab-Soul feature suffices, but you lied family,” one user wrote, referencing his recent “Crazier” collaboration with the TDE rapper.

“Destin, it’s been 330 days bro PLEASE,” another pleaded.

A third fan grouped him with Frank Ocean and Kanye West, joking: “Frank, Ye, now Jiddy… generational drop cappers.”

Back in May, JID also gave an update on his next album, suggesting that it would be released in the near future.

“Finally back from Saudi Arabia and I’m just here to say it’s so much behind the scenes/ in front of the scene work that goes in to each step of this shit and I am Truly Humble under God (Free thug) for the people that help contribute to executing this amazing event,” he wrote on Instagram following his performance at Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk’s boxing match.

“A n-gga was 100 feet in the Air rapping bout some n-gga Shit. Hip Hop is alive and well (album after tour).”

The tour he was referring to was 21 Savage‘s American Dream Tour, which began earlier that month and wrapped up in June. JID was an opening act alongside Nardo Wick and 21 Lil Harold.

The Atlanta native is also working on a joint project with Metro Boomin, which they’ve been teasing since last year.

“Got a lot of new music coming but when me and @JIDsv drop,” the multi-platinum producer wrote on X last March alongside a photo of them together in the studio.
