Royce Da 5’9″ is gearing up for his solo debut release, “Rock City” set for release next month on Columbia Records and is currently doing a small promo tour across Europe. Expect the first official single to be “Rock City” which features Eminem and that should hit the streets on March 15th in the states. He also said that his follow-up single would be Life Is Life, a dedication to his son. Interestingly enough, a lot of the joints on Royce’s new album are over 2 years old and there isn’t that much new material on the disc.
Royce also revealed further details on his departure from Tommy Boy Records over a year ago, blaming the break up on creative reasons and a lot of disagreement between both parties. Tommy Boy wanted to put out 5 albums ahead of Royce’s album, which would have been a wait of over a year for Royce, so he decided to ask for a release and the rest is history.
“Rock City” drops February 25th in the UK and the day after in the Canada and the US and is executive produced by Eminem. Guest appearances on the album include Nas, Twista, Eminem, DJ Premier, Trackmasters, Rush, Reef, The Neptunes, Carlos Broady and D-Elite.
