J. Cole has been on a tear since dropping his sixth studio album, The Off-Season. When he wasn’t playing basketball with the Patriots Basketball Club, the Dreamville leader dropped two music videos for “a m a r i” and “a p p l y i n g . p r e s s u r e” from the project. Now, Cole is back with another visual.
On Thursday (June 3), J. Cole unleashed the music video for “p u n c h i n’. t h e . c l o c k.” In the video, J. Cole heads back to New York City for a ride around town in a taxi. But, instead of calling an Uber, Cole takes it back to the old days and hails a yellow cab as he spits his minute-long verse throughout the ride.
The trip comes to an end when the taxi driver drops off J. Cole somewhere in downtown Manhattan. The Grammy Award-winning rapper seems hungry after that long trip and stops at a halal truck for a traditional New York City street cart meal.

While he’s shooting music videos in New York City, J. Cole took some time out to thank the country of Rwanda and the Patriots basketball team for embracing him with open arms during his stint with the Basketball Africa League. The rapper played only three games, but it was a moment he’ll never forget.

He continued, “Thank you to the entire country of Rwanda and to the city of Kigali for hosting us. BEAUTIFUL land with BEAUTIFUL people. To anyone considering visiting or moving to the continent, from everything I saw and heard, I would recommend you consider Kigali and Rwanda in general. Thank you to everybody that had kind words for me despite my inexperience. I plan to get better.”
