Outside of New York City’s club Duvet, at approximately 3 a.m. on November 23, 25-year-old Shamel McKinney exited with fatal stab wounds. Although Fabolous was reportedly enjoying his post-Thanksgiving activities in New Jersey, McKinney was identified as wearing his Street Family Crew chain and medallion. Within an hour, the man died at nearby Saint Vincent’s Hospital.
A seven-inch knife was later found inside the club, the presumed murder weapon. Witnesses told police that McKinney was attacked by three men during an unrelated altercation inside the club. At the time of his death, McKinney was awaiting sentencing for charges from a guilty plea of selling crack cocaine. No statements have been released from Fabolous or Duvet.
