Having sold 129,000 units of Eardrum through last week, Talib Kweli is already planning future releases. Reflection Eternal partner Hi-Tek confirmed rumors that Kweli may be focusing his efforts on a follow-up to the duo’s 2000 breakthrough. “We are definitely are doing [an album],” Hi-Tek told HipHopDX. “We both are trying to get back together on a really good note, as opposed to just doing it for the business.”

Hi-Tek produced a bulk of Mos Def and Talib Kweli’sBlack Star album before bonding with Talib as Reflection Eternal in the late ’90s. The duo helped the fledging Rawkus Records with commercial mainstream singles “Move Something” and “The Blast” from the acclaimed Train of Thought album. In the years since, both artists have released several solo albums, with Hi-Tek’sHi-Teknology 2: The Chip becoming the top-selling release in Babygrande Records’ history.

Although no label or title has been confirmed for the Reflection Eternal sophomore release, Kweli’s Blacksmith imprint through Warner Brothers is likely. Meanwhile, Hi-Tek emphasizes the reputation the two must live up to, “We want to get together and make a quality album and at least come as good as we did the first time.” Meanwhile, the video to Talib Kweli’s latest single “Hot Thing” / “In the Mood” is available below:
