Tyler, The Creator‘s GOLF store in Los Angeles was damaged during the George Floyd protests, but it’s not a great concern for him.
On Sunday (May 31), the Odd Future rapper updated fans through the store’s Instagram account. Posting a photo of members of the Black Panther Party from 1969, Tyler reminded fans to keep their eyes on the goal and explained why he’s not upset his store got hit.
“BLACK FURY: keep your eyes wide and educate yourself. ( black panther party, 1969),” Tyler wrote. “And the store is fine, but even if it wasn’t this is bigger than getting some glass fixed and buffing some spray paint off. Understand what really needs to be fixed out here. Stay safe. Love.”
Tyler has also been out at the protests himself and was spotted by a fan in a photo that made its rounds on social media on Saturday (May 30).
Protests have been happening worldwide since Floyd’s death by police on Tuesday (May 26). Other celebrities have also been lending their voice and resources to fighting the racial injustices, including Floyd Mayweather’s recent offer to handle the entire cost of all three funeral services for Floyd in his hometown of Houston, Minnesota and Charlotte, North Carolina.
LL Cool J just dropped a freestyle about the world’s recent events as well, rapping for nearly three minutes about black lives that have been senselessly lost at the hands of police and the reason behind the protests.
Hip Hop has not been silent during this crucial time in history. JAY-Z called MN Governor Walz to help get George Floyd’s case into the hands of Attorney General Keith Ellison, Russ raised over $150k for Black Lives Matter, The Weeknd donated $500k to various BLM causes, Drake donated $100k to a bail relief fund, and Killer Mike provided a powerful speech addressing Atlanta amid city wide protests. These efforts are only a few highlights among the many people who are doing what they can to help spread messaging and advance the Black Lives Matter movement.
if tyler wants to bruise it off and forgive the action because he believes the protests are more important than his place of business. cool. but lets be honest, the fact that rioters/looters would do that to his place of business, and do that to other black business owners, shows the lack of respect and integrity people actually have for the very people the protest is about upholding. its about police brutality and disrupting systemic racism….but you attack/destroy small businesses, even if black owned??!
i mean, shouldn’t that tell tyler something?? at one point does tyler realize all this shit has gotten out of hand and stopped being about george AND police brutality for a while now?? at what point does tyler actually acknowledge the problem of riotting/looting and its detrimental effects on the innocent lives of honest hard working people, including black business owners?? at what point does he condemn it, along with other celebs using their platforms to condemn it as well? i wonder, if golf got set on fire altogether, and burned down to the ground, would he still feel its not a big deal? or would he actually get pissed and fed up with the nonsense??!
then again, tyler got the money to rebuild his shit, which unfortunately, many other business owners can’t afford the insurance to cover the damages done to their business, so therefore, tyler can afford to have this attitude about it. all i’m saying, is that it might not actually be a wise idea to disregard this shit and sweep it under the rug, because it might get worst next time, or at the very least, you’re gonna have a hard time trying to convince other business owners to disregard it when they have more to lose than tyler and other rich rappers out there. just saying
Get this white nonsense outta here
He rich, he don’t care. Plus there’s more important stuff going on. We’ll worry about the damage and rising insurance costs later
He is acting like he doesn’t. Tyler don’t want to get stoned and beaten like a business owner did in Dallas. But maybe he is more concerned about getting cancelled by woke Twitter.
Goes to show you what’s really going on. It’s insurrection they want. This ain’t about George Floyd. The protests are. The rioting that the democrat leaders, and our woke celebrities are overlooking is not. George Floyd’s family has spoken out against it. His gf condemned it. That is outright ignorance. The things I’ve seen happen to people from riots. It would make your stomach turn
Let’s be real. If it was your home or business; or you were being attacked. What would you do? Most of these state leaders are allowing for this to happen. Help isn’t coming. Unless the National Guard and Army comes in. Nobody wants that.
It’s easy to forgive when you’re a rich celebrity. Imagine being on the breadline… You’ve poured your heart, time and savings into a business only to watch it get smashed to bit over something you had nothing to do with. Imagine being out with your kids and there’s mobs out ransacking and looting. Seriously, stop justifying atrocious behaviour! All those police officers involved deserve to be locked up like the criminals they are and get beat up every day for the rest of their lives. Police stations and government buildings absolutely should be protested because the apathy regarding police brutality is ridiculous. And people absolutely should be angry. Just make sure you aim that rage in the right direction. What’s the point of protesting about police not being accountable if you can’t even manage it for yourself?
I can see him out there yelling obscenities towards the man right before chucking a GOLF themed brick at his own store.
I know now ain’t the right time and whatever. But i still haven’t gotten over the fact that this dude won a best rap album grammy for igor, IGOR!? Hiphop is so fucking dead
So his store was vandalized and his response was “understand what really needs to be fixed out here”. So he’s ok with the looting (of black owned business, apparently) because he thinks they are standing for a greater good in which something will get “fixed”? The looters are hurting their own cause so much. If white people are afraid they can’t go to the mall without getting attacked, you think they’re gonna vote for the party that is sympathizing with the looters? Highly unlikely.
As if there weren’t any whites along with them out in the streets lmao. Fam there’s footage showing some white people in the riots and some getting caught looting as well.
You assume the looters are automatically black? There is evidence that suggests otherwise.
