For true hip-hop fans, this is the best news since the EPMD reunion. Pete Rock and CL Smooth are together again and working on a new album.

The duo smashed onto the scene in 1992 with their first LP Mecca and the Soul Brother which featured the hits TROY, and Straighten it Out. The album propelled Pete and CL to the top of the hip-hop game with Pete Rock’s jazzy up-tempo beats and CL’s silky smooth flow. They followed up the effort with another stellar album The Main Ingredient before breaking up bitterly in 1995.

Pete Rock has since released two solo albums, and both men have been busy.
