Harlem’s House of Justice will play host to a hip-hop community forum and MC Battle on December 5. The free event is called HipHop Speaks! and will feature a panel of community leaders discussing the day’s relevant issues, in hip-hop and in the larger world. The forum will be followed by a 16-person MC Battle sponsored by Rawkus Records, Motown Records, DaDa Footwear, and Hudson Punch Productions.
Featured guests will include activist/poet Ras Baraka, co-host of WBAI radio’s “Where We Live,” Rosa Clemente, journalist/editor/poet Kevin Powell and April R. Silver, President of Akila Worksongs. The forum will be moderated by Bobbito.
The doors open at 6:30 pm, and admission in free. Anyone wishing to compete in the MC Battle must sign up upon entering and attend the forum in full. Only the first 16 people signed up may compete- no exceptions. Harlem’s House of Justice is located at 1941 Madison Ave.
